Had a super comforting zichar-style meal with porridge — simple, homely dishes that hit all the right spots. Here’s a quick take on each one:

Prawn paste pork – crispy, juicy, and full of umami. Solid flavour punch.
Omelette with cai poh – fragrant, savoury, and nicely textured with radish bits.
Tieban tofu – soft and comforting with a rich, savoury sauce.
Sambal lala – spicy, fragrant, and fresh. Sambal really shiok.
Stir-fried cabbage – light, crunchy, and slightly sweet. Balances the meal well.
Porridge – smooth and plain, perfect for pairing with all the bold flavours.

Tried Gu Zao Ren Taiwan Food Porridge and it really hit the spot. We had the black pepper beef — the sauce was nice and thick, perfect to go with the porridge. Also got the omelette with cai po which was tasty, and the stir-fried cabbage was fresh and simple, just the way we like it. Service was good too, staff were friendly and fast. Would come back again for a comforting meal!

Had a great dinner here! Enjoyed the dishes we ordered, particularly the claypot tofu, three cup chicken and stir fried cabbage - and all the dishes went really well with the sweet potato porridge.

Out of everything I ordered, the fried pork and sambal lala were definite standouts. The pork was tender, flavourful, and not greasy at all. The sambal lala had a unique twist compared to the usual, but the sauce was so addictive—it kept me going back for more! The other dishes were delicious too, and everything paired perfectly with their chicken rice chilli, which added an extra kick. I went on a Tues and was surprised to see the place packed. I’ll definitely be back to try their chicken rice next time!

We had a satisfying meal at Gu Zao Ren Taiwan Food Porridge. We ordered the black pepper beef, and the sauce was thick, rich, and flavourful — great with the porridge. The omelette with cai po was tasty, with just the right balance of saltiness. The stir-fried cabbage was fresh and nicely done, not too oily. Service was friendly and efficient, making the dining experience pleasant. A solid spot for comforting Taiwanese porridge dishes.

Had a wonderful and cozy dinner here Guzaoren Taiwan Porridge! We got the Three cup chicken, hot plate toufu, chaipou omelette, cabbage and the porridge. All the dishes tasted homely and flavorful, and complimented the porridge really well! Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a warm cozy dinner that’s worth the price!
