Drinks stall with a fancy menu. Unfortunately my selections were sold out - coupled with a rude server. I ended up with this, which was so mediocre I'm reminded it's a food court.

When Chendol was served in a beverage cup and contained sea salt, this dessert (or did it convert into a beverage) became a novelty of the drinks stall within Food Junction, for S$2.20. Though we had probably been accustomed to salted caramel already, the sea salt was subtle and sort of balanced the sweetness.

But if this were to be compared with a bowl of shaved ice dessert, then I would prefer the latter, for it was easier to consume with a tablespoon than with a straw no matter what.

The Vietnamese stall within Food Junction also had Bahn Mi available for dine-in and takeaway. Costing S$6.90, they seemed to have also toasted the baguette before stuffing the fresh ingredients in. Fresh stuff always tastes more flavourful in a Bahn Mi, don’t you think?

When I first had this for takeaway, I was delighted by the sheer crispiness of the baguette crust. Though things might have gone a little messy with the crumbs, I would classify this as a happy mess no less.

From What The Fish! SG we had fresh green pepper seabass. The fish is first grilled, then poached over fire in rich broth and an assortment of spices to bring out the aromatic taste. The spice does build up for this. If you're a non-spicy eater, opt for one of the other 5 different tantalising flavours instead 🐟

This is supposed to come with 2 bowls of pearl rice but we didn't take that as there would be too much food for us.

Specialised in fuss-free quality beef gyudon, prepared fresh daily with air-flown meat and homemade sauces, the beef slices at Gyudon Toraoh are served atop a bed of caramelised onions. Comes with miso soup and salad πŸ„

Started off as a small restaurant along Kampong Bahru Road in Oct 2018, this rendition from Putian Heng Hwa Cuisine comes in quite a good portion!

Apart from Chinese cuisine, the GWC Food Junction also has a wide mix of affordable eats. For the health-conscious, try out healthy and authentic Northern Vietnamese cuisine from Viet Taste that is free from MSG and preservatives. A modern fusion of traditional tze char and fish head steamboat is also available at Queen of Wok.

Alternatively, head over to the no-frills, fuss-free Korean food stall (Hungry Korean) owned by former Mediacorp artiste Cassandra See. An extensive beverage list with soju and makgeolli cocktails awaits!
