So good. What really stood out were the coconut fragrance and the gula melaka. Some may find the latter too sweet, but I have a sweet tooth.
I’ve read lotsa raving reviews on their ondeh ondeh cake and decided to give it a try on a Sunday afternoon. We were surprised that there isn’t a single soul in the restaurant apart from the staffs. The cake appeared to be smaller than what we saw on pictures. It’s very light and not too sweet. I was expecting ondeh ondeh taste to be stronger but it wasn’t. It’s not too bad overall but there’s nothing to wow about. $9.50 for a small slice of cake + vanilla ice cream is kinda pricey. Probably wouldn’t go back again.
Here this version from @themalayancouncil hits all the right notes for me! From the light coconut cream, soft spongy texture and to the semi solidified gula Melaka that added some crunch! Overrall, the Cake wasn’t overly sweet although this may vary between individual tolerance. However at $8.50, it’s still a hefty sum to pay for a cake but thank goodness, it was good!

This rustic joint along Dunlop Street whips up delicious mains worth every penny and desserts worth saving space for. Must-trys include the Smoked Duck Chili Padi ($28), sporting thick slices of tender smoked duck sitting atop a creamy yet zingy linguine with a slight kick from chilli api sauce. On sweets, it's almost deviant to leave without trying the highly raved, not-too-sweet Classic Ondeh-Ondeh Cake ($8), featuring fluffy sponge layers and crunchy gula melaka bits.

The latter is definitely not for the faint-hearted! Generously layered with Mao Shan Wang puree and cream, the huge slice of cake is bathed in durian pengat - durian flesh cooked with coconut milk and gula melaka. A tantalizing treat guaranteed to make any durian lover drool, though the portion is too huge to finish on own.
Kudos to @yongweikai for enduring the “pungent” smell 🥰 while @nahmj and I quickly devoured it.

The #smokedduckpasta had an amazing creamy-chilli sauce full of the aroma of many spices. It was almost like a curry and although I can’t take spicy, the adjustment to less spicy & creaminess of the sauce meant a non-chili consumer like myself could still enjoy it. The smoked duck was also executed well - tender & flavorful. The #ondehondehcake was an interesting local Singaporean flavour and true to its name, was a sweet treat of coconut & gula melaka. The fluffy sponge paired nicely with the slightly crunchy sugar and ice cream.

I also tried their Durian Pengat $11.50+, which was superb! Definitely one of the better durian cakes around, served with a dollop of durian purée! I also tried the Putu Piring cake $9.50+, if ondeh ondeh wasn't coconutty enough for you, this is the cake for you!

Thank you @themalayancouncil for the complimentary chocolate ovalmaltine which was definitely made for chocolate lovers. My dining partners really enjoyed it! Will be back to try the main courses in the near future!

It definitely deserves to be the top on the list of their cakes and probably the best ondeh ondeh cake around! The gula melaka coconut in between the pandan/kaya flavoured cakes were not too sweet but the the crunchiness will make you crave for more!
