Thin strips of umami and oily tasty prawny pancake was addictive.

The well-known egg fried rice in various format. Tasty eggy fluffy rice with a simple tone of light savouriness. Good but not something I would craved for and the price is steep. As for pork chop, it was well-marinated, juicy and tender.

You know those Taiwanese versions of pineapple tarts that we love in Singapore? Din Tai Fung has a box of these, all individually wrapped in a box specially designed for CNY.
🔸
The crust is crumbly and not oily, while the fillings are not too sharp in its pineapple flavours, yet rich in aroma. So these are not too sweet nor sour, with a texture that soft from the crust to its fillings. Because they're free from preservatives, be sure to finish them soon after opening it.

For us, these are the essentials and no visit to DTF is complete without them.

I swear that DTF secretly grows their own rice grains on some secret Shangri-la-ish mountains and they water the grains with water from the morning dew. Each rice pearl is so plump, fat and full of moisture. It's not oily, and each mouthful is just a reminder why the queue is so worth it. In fact, sometimes I suspect that I'm there for the fried rice instead of the XLB!

One of the ‘side dishes’ i would usually order at Din Tai Fung is the 酸辣汤. It has the right blend of spicy and sour and is a very good appetiser before having the main dishes.

I’ve always been a fan of Din Tai Fung’s fried rice, but it was my first time trying the pork chop version.

The pork chop was a tad dry but still tender & flavourful enough, which was a very good combination when paired with the signature egg fried rice that i love.
