It's usually rare to find places that allow you to bbq by yourself, but this is one place that does so - and with lots of choices too.
My go to is the karubi beef short ribs that's fatty and well marinated. Love the garlic butter (which melts when placed on the grill). Their tangy kimchi is great too. Total costs: 200g for ~$16+ (no gst)
Shout out to their friendly staff who gives tips on how to bbq and keep the flames friendly. Ps. Heat 3 is the best.
Love how the waitress so warmly share about the food here, and that she tells us to "try this dish, so you will never regret and have the lingering thoughts of what if I tried"
And so true. The Swahili fish curry was a masterpiece of flavours, sour, tangy with the tamarind, sweet with the coconut milk and with red snapper topped with alfalfa sprouts ($29)
We also love the Sunset Cauliflowers that comes with all the Dukkha spices, setting it on fire with a peppery punch and creamy Dijon sauce. ($16) very very filling.
Only wished we have more stomach space here!! Too many to try.
Best for big groups, since you get to share the wide variety of Korean food here.
Must tries for me:
- Spicy Fire Chicken with Cheese. ($22) don't be intimidated by the name, paired with melty cheese, it becomes a savoury heaven of grilled chicken.
- Mentaiko dumplings ($10 for 5) whatever is in these dumplings is an explosion of flavours
- Kimchi fried rice with egg and tuna ($12) mix your own lil rice balls from this delicious plate
- Boneless fried chicken ($24 for 6) absolutely heavenly, with it being so crisp outside and juicy inside. Better than most chicken places!
- Sundubu with seafood ($17)
- Seafood Pajeon Pancake ($18)
- in short, too many good food here, everything is a hit.
Also, no gst and service charge!!
For a $5.50 brew, seems pretty good and intense and especially enjoyed the vibes here. More matcha than milk, and love the powdery matcha bits too.
A roastery that feels set in Jeju's black sand beach with its carefree lallangs.
It's a place abuzz with activities and hence you can only stay there for 75/90 minutes. And bookings are a must.
Tried the Hojicha swiss roll with sweet potato ($6)- thick slice with dense and intense Hojicha cream, made special with the light sweet potato mousse. Reco!
The Bellini ($10) felt like peach marshmallow cake to us. Aesthetic for sure, but price is on the steeper end.
with clams, v. fresh prawns and Fuzhou fishballs alongside bouncy meepok, big chunks of fishcakes and mushrooms for $6.80? Yes. Extra points that it's served super fast. If only the vinegar tinge was stronger than the tomato sauce & the Fuzhou fishballs was hotter for me. Otherwise, this is a pretty indulgent meepok.
The cheesy mite is the dream of anyone with savoury taste buds, a combination of Vegemite and cheese, merged with that pillowy sourdough with a crisp exterior. Heat it up in oven for 4 mins for perfection. ($4.50), also got the Tahini cookie as a snack!
In need of a countryside escapade, we came here for lunch, in the sweltering heat. It's a cosy place with warm owners (who strums guitar and wishes guest a happy birthday!) and this lovely and colourful platter of Nasi Lemak.
It's $12 for this spread, with my favourite being the Otah, Farm veggie tempura, kranji eggs, crispy chicken wing. Farm to table is a big element here.
The Warrior's curry chicken was also intense in it's flavour, accompanied by a crispy prata (that is more like a fluffy crispy bun) - $8
Come here for the farm tour, stay for the food
If you ever go to sungei buloh for hiking, this pit stop for lunch is pretty welcoming. They offer spreads focused on farm to table, and has some unique SG x Western fusion - unfortunately didn't get to try due to the long waiting time.
They also have a serene pool display which is a nice view for lunch.
Had their Alfredo Linguine (menu says fettuccine, but they only have linguine), it's on the creamier side, and I love the fresh seafood - tantalizing grilled prawns, scallops!, sashimi grade squid! (About $19)
Must have is the aloe Vera drink to accompany this ($4)
Impressed by these silky smooth rolls, they are thickly folded and thinly delicate at the same time. Even more impressed by the handmade method, showing you how much effort goes into mastering these CCF. Had to try all flavours after queueing for 20-30mins.
In preference: charsiew (flavourful and with a bit of fats), prawn, mushroom. They range from $4-$5. Welcome to the bishan hood!
Been intending to try this exotic whale bbt for awhile, especially how that Blue signature tinge is from a Superfood algae spirulina (which is nutritious, has antioxidant and helps with pain relief e.g.). This transforms bbt into something healthy, taking away the guilt. Matched with peach gums. ($5)
Deeply enjoyed this Tumeric & Mushroom 'Risotto', it was so rich and creamy in it's tumeric flavours, having a crunchy tint to its rice, and filled with everything nutritious: capsicum bits, mushrooms, corn. Also cooked together with Kombu broth and soy.
Preparing the dish took them some time (30mins) but I daresay it's well worth it. In a well lit and broad space that elevates the dining experience -$12.80
