Sliced Fish Pao Fan $8.90. Combination of white rice and crispy rice, cooked with the famous bak kut teh broth, topped with seaweed, spring onion and sesame seeds.

The robust broth filled with essence of the pork is well infused into the steam rice and crispy rice. The fish is fresh, making this dish light and comforting. Best part, the service staff continue to top up the broth just like in the BKT. I will definitely order the Pao Fan next time I visit Ya Hua Kovan.

Their version of the Bak Kut Teh (Pork Ribs soup) broth is a lighter, peppery one and admittedly, the pork ribs are less fall-off-the-bone tender than another chain's. They got their preserved vegetables right though. It's an appetite-whetting balance of saltiness without being too sweet.
