Tea | Houjicha sundae ($5.80)

If I used just one word to describe this cake, it would be DRYYYY. Ok lah it's actually not that bad, the middle layer of cake is pretty soft but the top and bottom layers are really dry for some reason. It's alright though, as the main star of this cake is the matcha, and boy does it shine.

The matcha cream is any matcha lover's dream. The matcha taste is super strong and isn't sweet, such that you get a powerful bitter matcha punch with each mouthful of cream. The cake complements this cream really well too, with a slight sweetness and a hint of fragrant matcha embedded in it too. The sweetness of the cake is enough to elevate the entire cake, cream and all. The white chocolate shavings on top do the same, so that this cake is at the perfect sweetness level that doesn't take away from the pure matcha taste, instead adding to it.

For $6 it's at a pretty alright price, it's quite big and definitely satisfies matcha cravings. Worth a try!

The ice cream has a really nice, strong matcha taste. The chiffon cake is supposedly also matcha but I can't really taste it tbh cuz of how overpowering the ice cream matcha taste is. It's really dry as well :/ I suppose letting it soak in the ice cream softens it up a bit but I wouldn't recommend getting the cake on it's own. The red bean is those natural ground kinds and adds some sweetness to the parfait, and the cornflakes add crunch! However I dont really find this worth the price because cornflakes are cheap and the cake is too dry, only the ice cream is a real standout.

The warabimochi is so soft and springy and I LOVE IT. I definitely want more! Both flavours (matcha and kinako kokuto) were delicious but I especially liked the kinako because of the nutty fragrance. It's a little sweet and I just looove the qq texture!! My friend tried it too though and she didnt like it so it could come down to personal preference.

Overall really nice but super expensive HAHAHA only treated myself cuz I have vouchers but if you wanna indulge in some good Japanese ice cream and your wallet isn't crying at the moment, this is a good place to visit!

🍦 Hojicha parfait (8/10)
The hojicha chiffon parfait is basically the same as the matcha one I had, just that the ice cream is hojicha. The hojicha taste is really strong and fragrant too! Perfect for tea lovers. However I find it a bit overpriced. Cornflakes are relatively cheap and the chiffon cake is really dry so other than the ice cream itself, there's not much about this that is super wow. Still good though!

🍦 Shiratama Parfait (7/10)
As for the shiratama parfait, it comes with ice cream (I chose vanilla), about 5 balls of shiratama, red bean, and some kind of agar agar jelly? The vanilla ice cream is reeeeally good. It's super milky and fragrant! Definitely way better than regular vanilla ice cream. I didn't really know what shiratama was and was expecting something mochi-like, but to my surprise, it's actually like tang yuan without any filling. Uhhh tang yuan with ice cream is a weird combo imo πŸ˜‚ didn't really like it since I prefer tang yuan with fillings. There was also some cubes of agar agar jelly (idk the real name but that's what it tasted like), those pretty firm, springy and non-chewy types. Didn't like it together with ice cream, honestly. Felt a bit jelak after eating and found it hard to finish. I wouldn't get this combo again personally but I think others might like it!

Overall, Tsujiri has really good ice cream and warabimochi! I find it a bit pricey unfortunately, but its a good place to visit for some quality ice cream!

Taste-wise, this tastes almost identical to the O-Matcha White Chocolate cake I had. The cream is the same, being barely sweet with a strong matcha taste to it. The biggest difference would be in the cake texture. While the other cake was as dry as my humour, this cake is pretty soft and dense. Altogether it makes for an amazing matcha experience, being at the perfect sweetness level.

For the price, I'd 100% choose the other cake though. The amount of cake you get in the other one is definitely a lot more. However if you'd rather have a softer cake, try this one. Just bear in mind that the skinny-ness of the slice does not match up to the $5.50 price tag.

Very strong and fragrant Matcha and Houjicha float. Caffeine is quite strong if you need to stay awake!
