Ok the portion is always very big but I always want other savoury flavours in my thunder tea rice - and so I got the one with the chicken prawn roll.
They are halal or I think they are because their staff are Muslim, my Muslim friends can enjoy this very healthy dish too. However I have yet to find a chilli that I like that works well with the thunder tea rice. I want something like a crispy prawn chilli I think will go well with this. What do you think?
Healthy lunch after NDP. ๐ธ๐ฌ๐ Drizzle orange sauce as suggested by lady at the stall. Spinach soup doesn't taste very strong and just right concentration. Crispy fish is the highlight. You can also request for no peanuts. Don't forget your chilli slice, always! โ๏ธ๐

Had it with brown rice. At $5.80 itโs really expensive for food court standard since itโs meatless. Taste wise is very normal. Definitely not as good as my fav in Tanglin Halt.
Thunder Tea Rice, aka ๆ่ถ (Lei Cha), from a stall at the air-conditioned Gourmet Paradise foodcourt located at Toa Payoh HDB Hub. Initially, I had high hopes for this dish, after reading up on several good reviews about it. However, I am a little disappointed by how underwhelming it is. The ingredients were just the usual TTR ingredients, nothing special. The soup was terribly diluted and lacked the strong tea taste. Overall, with its slightly hefty price point, I feel that this is not worth queuing up for and I have definitely eaten much better TTR at other places in Singapore.
OVERALL RATING: 5.5/10
Because I seek crunchiness in my lunch. The basil taste is not as strong as that of Joo Chiat's though. But still... ๐
