great vibes & seller was really nice and friendly! great hangout spot after eating dinner at woodlands 11, will definitely recommend if you are around this area 😍😍😍

Coming here could be not easy for those taking public transport, as you still need to walk for a distance to reach here.

And the shop is facing the main road of Woodlands Avenue 12, so might difficult to locate the shop if you come from the back of the building.

Beside continuing their durian business at this premise, there’s also tables and chairs for people who come here for dessert.

Their Mao Shan Wang Mousse definitely worth getting, which taste very thick; comes with a piece of the pulp.

Recommends to add the biscoff to it and add some cripsy bites.

Enjoy your Burpple Beyond here with one for one dessert like this together with a drink.

Had the MSW mousse and Mango Pomelo Sago, together with 2 cups of Orange juice. As part of the Burpple deal, total was only $10.

MSW Mousse was the star dessert here, very creamy and not overly sweet. Taste of durian permeated through the air, through my mouth, and through to my heart. Look at that huge chunk of durian flesh too... So good!! Mango Pomelo Sago was decent as well. Highly recc this quaint and cosy place.

1-for-1 with #burpplebeyond!

It was a pleasant surprise to find a Burpple Beyond merchant at an industrial area in Woodlands, with a comfortable and spacious setting to chill in. It was also encouraging to see that the people behind this relatively new (opened since June this year) were a group of young people, who emphasize on their fruit quality a lot.

The burpple beyond deals consist of a dessert and a drink, and you can choose almost everything on the menu. Be sure to check with them before ordering! While the choice of Mao Shan Wang mousse with biscoff sounded really tempting, being the conventional me still went with the pure Mao Shan Wang mousse. I could only describe the entire bowl of mousse as gao, nothing short of the creamy and rich consistency as you could see, although I kind of feel there might be durian flavour added to the mousse itself as it reminded me of the factory-made durian paste wrapped in a roll. They were very generous with the scoop of creamy durian flesh topped above the mousse! By the time I finished the entire bowl, my mouth reeked full of durian pungency the whole night. It was satisfying, except the ice chunks found in the mousse.

We had choices of fruit juices too and the husband felt that the coconut drink was overly sour. Commendable service as they replaced a cup and assured us that it was freshly juiced.

Thanks to Burpple Beyond, we had our durian cravings satisfied with 2 dessert sets at the price of 1!

Always kinda bummed that Woodlands have been lacking options when it comes to indie Chinese desserts establishments — the only ones around serving the same are probably that of Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert and Ji De Chi Dessert, apart from the stalls within coffeeshops that may serve up such items. Whilst not located in the most convenient location within the neighbourhood at Primz Bizhub, Thorny’s, which also retails whole durians and operates as a dine-in durian cafe, now also serves up a variety of cold and hot desserts, as well as cold-pressed juices while durians are currently off-season.

Have seen photos of their Mao Shan Wang Mousse with Biscoff floating around social media, but being the purist that I am, I found myself going for the plain-Jane Mao Shan Wang Mousse instead since the former sounded like a a sugar rush waiting to happen. The portion sizes here for the Mao Shan Wang Mousse is especially generous on first look, considering how the bowl is almost filled to the brim and topped off with quite a large scoop of durian flesh over the top. The durian mousse is nothing short of being smooth and creamy with a consistent texture — sufficiently thick and pretty rich as it perfumes of the pungent notes of the King of Fruits. That scoop of Mao Shan Wang flesh over the top further elevates the entire experience — not only providing the Mao Shan Wang Mousse with a variance of texture with its fibrous meat, but also providing an extra punch of the flavours of durian for more flavour. The only thing we found that have affected the experience was the inclusion of a chunk of ice within the durian mousse layer beneath the scoop of Mao Shang Wang flesh which pretty much diluted the flavours of the mousse itself — we found ourselves breaking up the ice chunk and consuming that part first in order to preserve the flavours for the rest of the bowl.

Being a durian specialty store, there is no doubt that the Mao Shan Wang Mousse at Thorny’s would hit the spot for durian lovers — it is indeed what one would expect; a rich creamy mousse with a generous scoop of durian flesh that is nothing short of being pungent and full of durian goodness. Also liked how they do offer other items to suit the tastebuds of friends whom ain’t a fan of the thorny fruit, with items such as Honeydew Sago, Sesame Paste with Rice Ball and Orh Nee with Gingko Nut to choose from. It’s slightly off the usual track for most, but I don’t mind that walk just to get my durian cravings solved — a gem for Mao Shan Wang Mousse in the North!
