Went to The Maha Co. for lunch recently and ordered their lunch set of Crispy Chicken Taco with a mango slushie ($12.90), Nachos with Guac ($10.90?), and their Crispy Wings ($12.90?)!😇

Overall ratings 4/10!😅 Maybe im not used to eating Indian & Mexican due to the Dosa that replaced the taco shell... wings were not bad but do not think id head back🤧

Interesting concept. Roast pork Is tasty and crunchy! Complements the thosai.

Bringing the best of Mexican and Indian flavours with a fusion twist, The Maha Co an interesting Indian-Mexican Café concept serving up some really good Thosai Tacos has opened at Nexus @ one-north early this year. Total six types of fusion Thosai Tocos, from meaty options such as Crispy Chicken, Roast Pork to Vegetarian and PB Nutella Dessert, you can definitely find something that suits your taste buds.

Chanced upon the new The Maha Co. on social media the other day — the newly-opened cafe at one-north takes over the former premises of the now-defunct Envy Coffee at at Nexus@one-north. Decked with Mexican Talavera tiles that lines the tables and movie posters along its walls and windows, the counter and food preparation is seemingly within a container box — the cafe’s menu is a little sparse here; they offer breakfast items such as Yogurt with Fruits, Nutella, and Granola, as well as Prata with Vegetable Curry for those looking for something savoury, whilst also offering sweet and savoury croissant sandwiches with various types of fillings as well. Beverage options includes specialty coffee, as well as tea, juices and “mix blends”.

Truth to be told, the only reason why I found myself here is because of the Coconut Gelato & Mango Croissant, which looked pretty decent in the photo that I scrolled past on social media. Basic as it can get, but the ice-cream croissant sandwich that came with toppings was actually pretty satisfying — the croissant itself was decent; sufficiently buttery, flaky and comes crisp as it is being warmed up upon order, but it was the richness of that smooth and creamy coconut ice-cream, small chunks of sweet mangoes and chopped up nuts that gave the dish a very satisfying, tropical dessert-esque vibe. One could easily say that the dessert evokes some truly Thai influences — almost akin to that of having Thai Coconut Ice-Cream; simple, but satiating.

To be fair, The Maha Co. isn’t quite a spot that I would purposely make a visit for — the limited items on the menu being one of the major factors, with the lack of proper hot food being the other; wished that there was a lot more emphasis on the menu for the items they serve which can bring a stronger identity to their branding considering how much effort they had went into designing the space. That being said, the Coconut Gelato & Mango Croissant is worth having if one ever chances upon the location whilst within one-north; probably an item I actually would not mind having again too!
