the mushroom soup and iced lemon tea were really diluted, tasted watered down. the carbonara taste made me apprehensive at first, but the yolk made it so much better and the taste grew on me! the mushrooms could be cooked better though
Went on a Saturday, it was quiet and not crowded. It’s nice to just hang out with friend and have chat there.
Cheesy chicken have sides of fries and salad. Fries are like usual thick fries, not that consistent with the crispiness. The salad is nice and basic with Japanese sesame sauce. The cheese on the chicken is amazing! Two types of cheeses: nacho and slice cheese torched to slightly charred. It adds so much flavour. However, there’s the fatty layer on the chicken that’s quite thick and a little bit of a turn off for me.
6/10
The carbonara is topped with an egg yolk and ham. The egg yolk was runny and adds creaminess to the pasta. This is one of the good carbonara out there thats not overly milky but still creamy at the same time. However, should eat it fast while it’s hot. A bit jelat when it’s cold.
7.5/10.
Ambience: It's a pretty small one compared to the others, but there's the brown line coming up right next to the CC, so it looks like there will be more crowds soon! Apart from that it was a relaxing location, without any crowds.
Service: I managed to win a Christmas voucher from burpple, so finally went there with my family. The stall when I went was run by two young guys, and we were amazed by their service and ability as they were both chefs as well! They gave many recommendations, and were really friendly.
Food: Grumpy bear's menu as always is humongous, with it's main speciality chicken being as always, amazing. However, the KBCC branch has additional baked rice/pasta as well as Bible tea from Par-tea available. The one I got was flavourful with surprising additions of mushroom and hard veggie, which broke away from the potential monotony. It was incredibly filling!
The meal was generally a decent one for it's price, but I believe that if I stayed nearer I may go more often.
Portion for the soup a bit sad and it cost 6.90 with a drink. T.T
Came here because of Burpple one for one. The food was basic and nothing great to be honest. The fried calamari was the worst. It was hard as rocks. It seems as though they refried leftovers! Just bad.
Nevertheless the pasta and chicken chop was still edible and decent. Just be mindful that the one for one are only for items below $15 which are the basic items and they don’t even allow you to top up.
That was not my pain point to begin with. The Service was bad. The lady at the counter seemed to love sitting on the bar stool and if she needs to get off the chair, she’ll show you her black face. She pretty much wants everyone to embrace the self service attitude.
She was rude and stand-offish to other customers as well.
Will not be back even if it is one for one
Can’t go wrong with sesame sauce! However it was a little predictable and I thought the Chili crab dish would have been a more enjoyable option!
