$68 - This Wagyu Beef was AMAZING. Well cooked and huge! The accompanying veg + pudding + potatoes were also so delicious and didnât feel like an after thought (which Iâve seen at a few other steak joints). Beautiful restaurant as well :)
Do restaurants owned by Masterchef judges actually serve Masterchef-quality foods? We visit The English House by British celebrity chef @marcopierrewhit to find out.
We chose a classic British favourite for our mains, the traditional Sunday Roast, opting for the Roast Rib of Black Angus Molly Parkin with Yorkshire Pudding and Creamed Horseradish.
The Roast Beef, served medium-rare, is succulent and packed with juices, albeit a bit chewy. This cut of beef isnât too fatty, accompanied only by shavings of beef fat.
Nevertheless, each bite maintained its robust and rich flavours well, making it mouth-watering indeed!
The Sunday Roast also encompasses
tantalising Pigs in Blankets(bacon-wrapped sausages), light and delectable Yorkshire Pudding and moist Roast Potatoes that reminded me of those infused with beef fat.
Sides also include Creamed Cauliflower, sweet Green Peas and an interesting Sweet Potato PureĚe, all flavorsome in their own ways.
Feature :
đClassic Egg Benedict with Berkshire Ham Hock.
đ°$20.
đTraditional Full English with toasted Crumpet.
đ°$23.
The highlight for me is the crumpet.
Its crisp outside, while inside airy and spongy, with chewy texture, served with perfect eggs and meat.
Its available for Weekday Brunch from Monday to Friday, 11.30 -2pm.

At first glance, it may seem a little pricey at $38 but when you see how extraordinarily large and thick the Haddock is (Head Chef @bennett_andrew orders his fish from Europe) and taste the chunks of its smooth, moist flesh, you know thatâs quality youâre enjoying. Coating it is a thin, very light and crunchy beer batter. The chips are made from British potatoes and triple-fried for a crisp finish. Accompanying these are some really good housemade Tartare Sauce and a tasty Mushy Peas (I am not a âpeas personâ so itâs rare for me to like a dish with it, let alone of it).
If you fancy an authentic British classic this Friday or on any other Friday, just order via the link-in-bio of @theenglishhousesingapore. Parents, they do a $15 Kidâs Set as well.

Tâwas a wonderful surprise when I was told by @theenglishhousesingapore that they would like to treat me and my family to lunch. I just had to let them know what I would like from their new Takeaway Menu, which I did in a jiffy. The food was delivered on time and it traveled well, arriving in prime condition thanks to the attention paid by Head Chef Andrew Bennett and his team.
Here is what I picked:
1. âThe English Rump and Foie Gras Burgerâ ($25) - A fine specimen of the loaded-style burger, it came with a massive portion of fries. A little assembly was required as the melted cheese and crispy bacon-topped juicy patty (made with beef and foie gras), came wrapped in foil. The iceberg lettuce which was also packed separately, remained delightfully cool and crisp even after I stacked everything together between the lightly toasted soft buns and took a bite. What a great idea to send the burger this way as it helped it to taste extra fresh and delicious.
2. âConfit Crisp Duck Leg with Japanese Egg Fried Riceâ ($32) - Never thought these two could be a combo let alone a winning one. The confit duck was seasoned and cooked on point, and I found the best way to enjoy the dish was to shred the duck up and mix the tender, moist meat with the super eggy fried rice.
3. âBraised Shortrib of Angus Beef with Singapore Spiced Noodlesâ ($40) - I had enjoyed this a lot when I dined in previously, so I was very pleased to see it in the Takeaway Menu. Although the noodles were a tad dry compared to when I had the dish in the restaurant, the huge hunk of meat was every bit as melt-in-the-mouth as I remember.
4. âMr. Whiteâs Tiramisuâ - Dessert was a hefty scoop of their popular mascarpone and 70% cacao creation. Loved how rich, creamy and intense in coffee and chocolate it turned out to be.

The former has two options from a Fresh Crab Cake ($5) served with a remoulade sauce and Quails Scotch Egg ($5) with a salad cream. Both canapes were equally delish, but my vote has got to go for the crab cake as scotch egg as the pairing of eggs with meat and into the deep fryer is just a genius creation by the English people. Next up, we had two of the mains from the bar menu, The English House Rump & Foie Gras Burger ($25) and Chicken Club Sandwich ($18). The burger comes with crispy bacon and melted cheese, which makes every burger complete with the addition of pomme frites.
