More Reviews of good food at Sun with Moon (Wheelock Place)

always a long queue, prices are slightly steeper. for its price you get what you expect.

It is quite small, so it’s good for sharing between 2, but we had a group of 4 so I had a small bite. I thought it was quite nice, my mom really liked it. The egg custard was silky smooth, with a broth that was tasty but light, and filled with ingredients like chicken, prawn, mushrooms, and ginkgo. The menu says it’s topped with mushroom and carrot ankake sauce so I guess that is what the broth is.

Flame-seared seafood mix of diced salmon, scallop, prawn, grilled eel, salmon roe and smelt roe served in metal pot with flavoured steamed rice. Set includes choice of 3 mini side dishes & miso soup.

A bit pricey for a regular lunch, but this was satisfying! The kamemeshi rice is tasty but not heavily seasoned, I liked the light flavour that wasn’t too salty or sweet. Seafood was quite fresh, had a nice bite and not overcooked. It was smaller than I expected, which is good bc it’s not too filling since there’s also sides. I was afraid it was going to be a big pot of rice so thankfully it wasn’t!

The sides were quite good too. I got the mix kaisen yamakake - raw salmon with grated yam (didn’t like the slimy yam); the salmon nanbanzuke tasted like onigiri salmon, a strangely familiar taste but the batter was soggy as it is soaked in vinegar; the pickled radish w herring roe was vvv nice, I liked the yuzu flavour and the refreshing tartness, the herring roe was v interesting kinda reminded me of sea grapes/tobiko??

Miso soup was normal, tasted like the same type as uya (which is different from normal Japanese casual restaurants like ichiban/sushi tei).

Overall while I don’t think there’s a big wow factor, somehow I still I really enjoyed my meal and would defo be back!

Priced at $41 after service charge and GST, the set above came with rice don, soup and drink. The Chawanmushi and Sashimi were added as ala carte orders. The pork slices were cooked to perfection, fresh sashimi and the Chawanmushi was not too salty! Very nice place for gatherings if budget can be stretched

Sweet glutinous rice filled with sweet read bean paste, wrapped in pickled Sakura leaf πŸƒ. Not too sweet and really enjoyable. Part of limited Spring menu. $6

Hot pot with fresh ingredients of fish, chicken and pork. You can opt for a set meal with side dishes.

$12 for this kids meal with a few pieces of sushi. Some fried stuff, a bowl of udon and yakult..pretty standard I think.

Finally get to try out the ever popular Sun With Moon! Ordered the kamameshi set, which comes grilled salmon, chicken thigh with sweet soy sauce and salmon roe, served in metal pot. Yummy and filling! Not forgetting the set includes 3 mini side dishes, which are awesome by itself too! Definitely worth visiting

Starting off with the bite-sized Shiroyaki Unagi Sando Sushi ($5.80) of grilled eel and hand-rolled sushi rice wrapped in a seaweed sheet to the well-loved kamameshi of Unagi Shiroyaki Butter Shoyu Kamameshi ($27.80), a SUN signature of seasoned rice topped with grilled eel and served in a traditional metal pot. For something lighter, there is the Gyu Misuji Steak Salad, a bowl of greens with grilled Australian blade steak with a shoyu wasabi dressing.

Fantastic food with piping hot rice, sides - great for people whose girlfriend loves sushi but you don't.

Been here thrice and I love the food (and the extensive menu) here! The most recent set meal I’ve ordered, Steak Moriawase Set ($56.80) was greatly satisfying given the amount of food that came in the set. There are three cuts of meat in this platter and all tastes great with the sauce pairing (I chose Yuzu Pepper and Ponzu). I preferred the Wagyu and the Canadian Sangenton Pork more, so I would definitely order those sets during my next visit!

Be sure to order Ama Sake Cocktail ($5) too, it’s a very refreshing drink, not overly sweet and contains less than 0.5% alcohol! I tried White Peach flavour one, will be back to try the rest!

Happy to be back at @sunwithmoonsg and was excited to try out other dishes this time round.

This came with snow crab, prawn, salmon, scallop and vegetables. Was looking forward to this but was eventually disappointed πŸ˜• The batter was neither light nor crispy, though the ingredients were fresh as usual. I would have preferred it if the tempura weren’t drenched in sauce and the dipping sauce was served at the side.

Not the first time getting this and it was good as before! Ingredients were fresh and I liked how the 3 ingredients spared us from the tough choice of choosing one of the three! πŸ˜‹

I liked this place at the start of my burpple journey on 29/12/16

5 years later I'm finally here lol and glad to report it's every bit as good as I had hoped, better in fact. You would think it's like some weird tofu taste but damn it's a really good cheesecake with a tofu-esque texture. Must try if you're a cheesecake fan

The food is good and fresh. The side of salmon belly is so generous. Belly happy.

Maybe it's just me but I am disappointed that the beef contains more fats than meat. The did enjoy the other dishes though.

I love their sesame pudding. It's a must order. Needs no explanation. Just order. Must order.

This restaurant has a cozy ambience that gives privacy to its customers. I love the myriad of dishes available and how they still keep their standards high. I fancy the kamameshi, where you pour in the dashi broth to your unagi and rice. There was no space for dessert πŸ˜‚
Taste: 4/5⭐️
Damage to wallet: 4/5

Mixed well with the soft boiled egg, dipped some with the wasabi and everything came up together so well. It melts in your mouth. Worth it!

All I can say is OISHII. I weren’t even bothered to chat with anyone and all I want were to just finish up my lunch meal set. Totally worth it.
