Roots Mediterranean feels like a italian-mediterranean restaurant. They have options of cheese and hams, handmade pasta and pizza and delectable options of mains too. Not forgetting a couple of quirky concoctions of cocktails.
We went for their 4 Raviolis option as we are kind of spoilt for choice so having an option where we can try out multiple flavor of ravioli is pretty good! The Ravolis is well cooked to bite and the feelings were well seasoned. We went for the raviolis with Crab & Lobster, Smoked Salmon, Truffle & Cheese and Mushroom. Different raviolis comes with different sauce base pairing, but for this option, we could only choose one and decided to go for their Prawn bisque base. It’s very concentrated and umami tasting, because it’s heavy in taste, it complements well with the ravioli which is more natural tasting.
Pleasantly surprised, they have very affordable portion of ham options which ranges from $7-$13 for 50gram of parma, iberico ham etc. & their portion is rather decent. At least like 6-8 chunky slices for each different type of ham.
Not the most accessible place to go to, but it’s worth a try!
Love their crust! So airy and fluffy- more bready than crusty, but I love this. Parma and porcini are also the best combination ever though they can get really salty. Also like how every single piece of the pizza slice has parma and porcini on it- so you don't have to ration the toppings yourself like what happens in most pizza meals.
Can never resist seared octopus tentacles. Roots' rendition has crispy exterior with pretty tender flesh within. Could have been more tender, but I guess it's a trade off with the crispy exterior. It also comes with saute king prawns (and their briny oil) which we appreciate but nothing to shout out about. What's surprising is the juicy roasted eggplant hidden below the tentacles. So full of flavours from the balsamic vinegar reduction, lime juice and the pool of prawns oil beneath.
Creamy feta cheese and spinach encased in crispy phyllo dough. Again, a generous portion for the price point. Love the contrasting texture, though flavour gets quite monotonous after the nth bite. Suggest adding some crack peppers to elevate the flavour.
Always a big fan of taramosalata for its bold, pungent flavour from cured fish roe. Roots' version is quite different because it's way creamier and smoother than many that I've tried so far. Which makes this sooo easy to have-- on the focaccia, on the pizza, on the veggies, anything! Would order this again cos it's defo my fave dipping.
Pleasantly surprised to see a generous dollop of truffle sauce on top of the burrata heart. However, the burrata itself was rather bland and watery. I'd prolly skip this cos it's pretty much forgettable.
