#01-36 D'Authentic Nasi Lemak
Came at 12+ and there's not that many dishes left, so I had the chicken wing, curry veg, begedil, and peanuts and ikan bilis. The only dish I didn't have was the sunny side up.
Everything on the plate was perfect. The rice was soft and super fragrant on its own with a good amount of coconut milk taste but not super overpowering. It tastes even better in their curry sauce. The chicken wing was crispy on the outside while the meat is soft and tender and juicy and flavourful.
The veggie, begedil and peanuts and ikan bilis were all good, though nothing amazing.
Happy that I got to try this!
Bland dumplings that seemed to suffer from freezer burn and an underseasoned chilli oil meant this dish was seriously lacking in flavour. Disappointing since this stall in Marine Parade Food Centre selling China cuisine looked popular and promising.

$4, the noodles are silky smooth and slightly firm (the way I love it), but by end of the meal have softened slightly. the soup is extremely tasty. it's sweet and full of the tomato flavour, and is rich enough that it coats the noodles even as you eat the noodles dry on its own (vs in a spoon of soup). the egg is also fried separately such that it retains its fried and slightly wok hei taste, which differs from your typical ban mian egg which is more like an egg drop soup style of egg.
From Beancurdlism $1.20 for this awesome cup of soya bean drink.
Not bad.
A curry-centric stall situated with the Muslim stalls whose name I've forgotten. Looks a lot worse than its photo, like something homecooked. Fortunately, there's a chicken drumstick hidden below.
Quite eggy and the top is extra crispy! (If you don’t like it crisp just let them know) Kueh was soft, quite liked this except it was a little too salty when I had it and no caipoh😂. Chili is shiooook.
Happy birthday SG - and one of my favourite part of it is our hawker food, and the tireless hawkers behind them 💛
I got this generous bowl of lor mee for just $2.50 near Parkway Parade, and it comes with a perfectly crisp fried fish, slices of lor bak, egg, fishcake and... very earthy lor mee sauce.
I'm usually very particular about lor mee, and this just checks all the right boxes. It gives a good kick with the vinegar and garlic.
And of course, what makes this stall the most memorable to me is....how the owners simply tell me that its alright i forgot my wallet, and to pay after the meal and that I should enjoy my piping hot bowl of lor mee first (came back afterwards). This trust right here - i'm so thankful.
[Ma Po Lor Mee]
Also ft H's char kuey teow thats a unique rendition in satay sauce - not the black one we expected but i guess still quite shiok
Apollo CKT is probably 1 of the iconic stall there, with their signature wet CKT. Still very flavourful though the Wok Hei didn’t taste as distinct as before, and not everyone may like this version.
老娘 Wanton Mee sounded good and it certainly had potential, with the thicker bouncy noodles and fiery chilli. But the lady probably exerted too much of her prowess with her salty soy sauce.
The Hollywood Chendol looked attractive and it was refreshing, just wished the Gula Melaka was more pronounced for the taste to pop.
Not our favourite Putu Piring so far, but the brown cake from the same stall was the dark horse instead. Light and fluffy, it was tasty with an aromatic caramel-like taste.
Nevertheless, we liked that the FC looked so clean and was so well-ventilated and cooling (many powerful fans!), making makan at FC such a pleasant experience again.
Sweet bean sauce, scoop of chilli sauce and sprinkles of sesame seeds. So tasty rice noodle roll when served warm.
A decent portion of traditional glutinous rice with crunchy peanuts and fried shallots.
Clear broth is so shiok. Short queue expected as different requests from different variations of the simple prawn noodles. Value for money for its taste.
Favourite Chendol in Toa Payoh Lor 8's market, now has a branch in Marine Parade Food Centre too!
They never scrimp on ingredients: sweet red beans, green Chendol shreds, attap chee seeds, lemak lightly-salted coconut cream and gula melaka syrup. I love to stay and watch them ladle that thick glistening Gula Melaka syrup over crushed ice and it slowing seeping downwards as the ice cracks soaks up all that goodness. Immense foodporn moment right there. Order this yourself and you'll willingly hand over that crisp two dollar note in your pocket.

When I'm in the hood and feel like eating something clean yet tasty, I get this. The QQ noodles tossed in black sauce then topped with a sprinkling of minced pork are simple yet enjoyable, but it's their unique handmade fine cut yong tau foo I'm really here for.
Steeped in a robust soy bean broth, each delicate looking piece is flavourful unlike the generic, bland tasting mass-produced versions sold at run-of-the-mill yong tau foo stalls. The Eight Treasures set includes the emerald green spinach tako, tau kee(fish paste stuffed beancurd skins), stuffed tofu, fishball and springy shrimp cake. They go great with the stall's specialty chilli sauce

Soup or dry. Spicy or sweet. Your choice.
Should be less than $5 for a decent meal that comes with rice or noodles or bee hoon (depending on daily availability)
Instead of having beef noodle we end up settle our lunch with few of our favourite pick from 海皇点心 at Marine Parade Hawker Centre
.
Their flaky crust egg tarts and steamed yam cake are good. #cuisineparadiseeatout #dimsum #burpple #8dayseat #foodiesg #eggtart
One of the must eat char kway teow in Singapore. Come and try it for yourself. One man's meat is another's poison.
Mmmm... Pork...
A walk around Marine Parade Hawker Centre and you'll notice many old-school signboards, an indication of how many hawkers are still in business after all these years. One such stall is Kun Ji (Duck Rice, Duck Porridge, Roast Meat).
I've heard good things about the roasted pork here so I gave it a try. The shao rou is definitely succulent with that all important crackle of the skin. The char siew was tender and sweet. Overall, it isn't the best but it's so darn good. A simple plate of either char siew rice or shao rou rice is $3 but a combo of both is $4.
