Despite how spoilt for choice I always am at The Daily Cut, I realised that Iād often end up picking the same few toppings in my bowl ā sweet potatoes as my base, honey lemon tilapia as my protein, braided red cabbage, brussels sprouts and broccoli as my supplements, topped with sliced almonds and lime squeeze as my dressing. Love every single ingredient to bits! Can never get sick of this hearty combi šā¤ļø
This place is best known for their pulled pork ā so obviously I had to choose that for my choice of protein š The pulled pork, having claimed to be stewed/grilled for 8 hours, was immensely flavourful and well-seasoned! Although I found it a little too salty for my liking, it definitely matched my choice of base - the 3-grain mix - really well š The 3-grain mix consists of quinoa, bulgur wheat, and pearl barley, which had a lovely gritty texture and was pleasantly addictive.
The main highlight of my bowl was certainly the glorious combination of pulled pork and grains, as I personally felt that their sides had nothing much to shout about.
The zucchini and herb salad came drenched in a citrusy sauce, giving it a tangy flavour, while the marinated mixed mushrooms were garlicky and juicy, which probably stood out best amongst the rest. The purple cabbage slaw was rather disappointing as I expected it to be well-marinated given that itās supposed to be a āslawā and not just plain shredded purple cabbage⦠and the broccoli could have been boiled for longer, as the ones served tasted a tad too raw.
Overall, the portion could have been bigger as this grain bowl did not fill me up⦠considering that I paid $15.50 for it, I believe they could be more generous with the ingredients.
Would I be back again? Hmm maybe, if I was in the vicinity, craving for something healthy and when Iām not too famished. Otherwise, I guess there are better and more substantial grain bowls out there.
The Mexican chicken thigh was generously garnished with oregano & chilli, giving it a delightful hint of flavour. Despite my usual slant towards chicken breast meat as I dislike having to go through the inconvenience of prying the meat out of a whole chicken thigh, the meat here was incredibly tender and moist, falling off its bones easily š The skin-on sweet potato was soft and sweet, whereas the mushroom, celery and carrots slaw was peppery and well-seasoned šš¼
I truly appreciate how quick the service here at Caveman Food is, while not compromising on the freshness of their food as their dishes are always served piping hot. Being affordably priced, it only costs $8.90 for 1/4 chicken and 2 sides, making it an economical, fuss-free and healthy meal! āŗļø This is especially ideal for those on special diets, catering to not only the paleo crowd but those with particular intolerances to grains, soy, gluten, & dairy. Overall, this certainly made up a very hearty and satisfactory meal š
Love how well-seasoned the chicken was āŗļø Picked the roasted bell peppers, cauliflower and mushroom medley for my supplements. The mushrooms were rather oily that it got a little distasteful after awhile, especially when the oil was soaked up by the other ingredients and my romaine was particularly oily... It would have been much better if they could drain some of the oil away before serving. Topped it all off with toasted coconut flakes and romesco sauce as my dressing.
Overall, a rather satisfactory meal despite how greasy it was. Everything still tasted really good and their portions never fail to make me return for more :)
As a Cedele member, I always find myself patronising Cedele for its healthy and wholesome food. I'm especially a total sucker for their DIY salads :)
Here's what I picked this time round:
1 base: romaine lettuce
2 proteins: tuna flakes and roasted chicken
4 toppings: broccoli, sweet potato, grilled eggplants and edamame beans
1 dressing: plum sesame sauce
The tuna flakes were extremely dry; will not order it again. The creamy sweet potatoes and mushy grilled eggplants are my go-to toppings as they never disappoint š
Got myself a soup as well (+$3 for add-on with a main). Of course, I had to get my all-time favourite curry pumpkin soup which was so satisfyingly rich and creamy š Sliced some bread for myself at the bread counter to go along with the soup; love how there's such a wide range of bread available at this outlet šš
Picked cha soba as my choice of carb, lemongrass chicken thigh as my protein, and my three toppings were: pickled cucumbers, beansprouts and roasted celery. Chose the Thai spicy vinaigrette as the dressing for my salad.
The soba tasted a little stale - perhaps because they kept it in the plastic container for quite a while and when I ordered, they simply took the container out and added the additional ingredients. Even though I could barely taste any hint of lemongrass in the lemongrass chicken thigh, the chicken meat was tender and I quite like it. All three toppings were pretty well-seasoned, albeit being a tad too oily. Picked the wrong choice of dressing, as the vinaigrette was way too sweet and did not go well with my salad.
Overall, I'm satisfied with my choice of toppings, but not so with the soba and the dressing. I loved how generous the portion was, despite the cheaper price point in comparison to other salad shops. This did not fill me up though... I think I should pick two or even three proteins the next time I order š
salad from the newly openedĀ superfudoĀ cafe atĀ holland v ($15) š„ got the āsuper balanced" portion, where I picked multigrain rice, chicken, pumpkins, snap peas, corn and mixed seeds. food tasted all rightāp mediocre, nothing special and not worth the $15 imo. to add on, our dining experience wasnāt the most pleasant bc the tables were dirty and the food took more than 20 minutes to be served, even though my friend and I were the only customers in the cafe.

Back at one of my favourite comfort food placesāCedele š
The DIY salad here comes with either 1 or 2 proteins ($9.90/$10.90). Ordered mine with 2 proteins, namely the tofu quinoa stir-fry and grilled chicken. Both tasted really good, especially the former which had me craving for more the moment I finished the portion on my plate hehe. My four toppings were eggplants, sweet potatoes, broccoli and edamame beans. I love the grilled eggplants served at Cedele as they are always incredibly juicy! Picked the honey paprika sauce as my choice of dressing, which went pretty well with my salad.
Overall, I love how affordable this salad was, without compromising on the portion size as this was a pretty large serving :) Do take note that the DIY salad is only available at Cedele's Bakery Cafe outlets š

Martian's Delight on Wholemeal Wrap $10.90
Ingredients include romaine lettuce, roasted mango chicken, pumpkin, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and broccoli. Swapped the carrots for broccoli. The dressing that was supposed to come with this salad/wrap is the wasabi mayo dressing, but I prefer having it without the dressing as I do not like my wrap to be wet and soggy. In fact, the roasted mango chicken is moist enough to prevent the wrap from being too dry. Picked wholemeal wrap as my choice of wrap and it was delicious! I particularly love the pumpkin served at Simply Wrapps, as it is always so mushy and creamy!
The wrap is MASSIVE - it left me feeling v full and satisfied š This is definitely one of my go-to eateries whenever I'm craving for healthy and delicious wraps.
