The truffle dry ramen has been on my list of things to try forever but the prospect of facing a giant queue kept me away... We finally decided to give it a shot and the place was hopping but we didn't have to wait for a table... The noodles were served lukewarm but firm and redolent with truffle... Adding an egg was DEFINITELY the thing to do but the char siu was disappointing... Too tough and didn't complement the other flavors in the bowl...

Foreground: Hickory-smoked Salmon ($17) which had a heady charred aroma atop fragrant stir-fried forbidden grains and purple cabbage dressed with a ponzu-olive oil emulsion. Background: Unagi & Inaniwa Udon ($19) which was kinda like the Angel-hair version of udon topped with a piquantly-seasoned grilled eel. Definitely coming back for more πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ #burpple

This is a really popular item at Nude that gets sold out fast, so go for early lunch to secure this.

The inaniwa udon are smooth and springy with a really nice al dente bite to it. If you notice, the vegetables tempura and grilled eel are resting on the udon and did not touch the gravy. This helps ensure the tempura remains crispy (without being oily), the eel well-seasoned, and the dashi stock having just the right consistency.

Smoked & roasted Japanese moist duck, pan-caramelised creamy French foie gras, steamed Calrose rice with house-made roasted white sesame sauce, Szechuan zha choi, roasted duck’s skin, free range fried & runny hen’s egg

Uni Pasta ($28++)
Homemade Uni Sauce Pasta with Fresh Sea Urchin

This was something unique- it did not disappoint. The sauce was epic umami, & the uni was uber fresh. I wish the pasta were slightly more al dente. But seeing as to how it wasn't soggy (just me being fussy), I'd actually still order this again.

One of the perks and burps of following Burpple is tracking down delicious food places, especially a hidden gem like Bincho.

It is hidden, quite literally. While the entrance is actually at the back facing the car park, Bincho is accessible by walking in through Hua Bee Restaurant.

Now that Bincho makes its lunch menu (comprises of wallet-friendly set meals) available during dinner exclusively on Sundays, I have more excuses to indulge in a good meal before going back to work the next day. 😜 Each set comes with an appetizer, salad, karaage, soup, pickled vegetables and dessert.

Bincho prides itself in yakitori (grilled chicken) so there was no excuse not to try its signature Yakitori Don Set. Having read the review from @veronicaphua, we decided to get Beef Tongue Don Set as well. πŸ˜™

The appetizer, Salmon with Mayonnaise and Salmon Roe, melted in our mouths and they tasted exquisitely delicious. We loved the Fried Chicken Skin Salad because of the crunchiness without the greasy aftertaste. πŸ˜‹ Well, the Fried Chicken Drumlets were finger-licking tasty, so savory and thickly coated with sauce that they stole the limelight from the mains. The chicken soup was a simple warm comforting broth and it had rice crackers which we really enjoyed.

Here comes the main highlights... The grilled chicken in the Yakitori Don was aromatic with its slightly charred and crispy skin, moist and firm meat. On another hand, the Beef Tongue was tender and oishii~~ with a balanced natural sweetness and savory taste from its marinate sauce. 😍 We also enjoyed the grilled vegetables that Chef Asai spent much time grilling. It was definitely a great dining experience without leaving a hole in my wallet. This rewards repeat visits to Bincho! πŸ‘

I love the tonkatsu pork here! It's one of the best I've had in Sg! Love the crunchiness of the exterior and the juiciness of the pork! Went very well with the sauce! And this is one of the $15 lunch sets as well!

Alas the Sawagani could not escape their fate of being deep fried and served to three hungry girls. They looked deceptively hard and menacing to be put into our mouths, but turned out to be very crispy and easy to chew. Couldn't get any fresher with the natural sea-salt flavour. Thank you little crabs for satisfying our carnivorous tastebuds. A must-try for appetisers! #burpple

While the Moriwase was supposedly the highlight of the night, it was callously stolen by this Double Salmon Maki. Salmon aburi wrapped with another huge slab of salmon aburi, this was insanely satisfying. With the melt-in-the-mouth texture from interplay of raw and torched sushi plus that smoky char flavour from the torching... I was sure that I was going to hyperventilate from happiness. Personally, I preferred this rendition to the Shiok Maki from Koh Grill and Sushi bar, given the lack of mayonnaise. I thought it helped to bring out the salmon flavour better. Oh, and the addition of deep fried salmon skin onto the maki was pure genius.

This is part of a promotional moriwase set, which comes with an appetizer, sashimi moriwase and choice of maki roll at $78+. This portion is recommended for 2-3 pax.
