Hotcakes, Pancakes & Waffles
There's nothing quite like a hearty brunch to kickstart the weekend!
Checking out the newest @commonmancoffee and the outlet exclusive Sourdough Pancakes which come in both sweet and savoury.
Sweet Pancake ($24) is a decadent one complete with chocolate almond ganache, almond praline, vanilla bean ice cream and zesty citrus marmalade. Surprisingly, between the duo I prefer the Savoury ($24). Dense diner-styled pancakes, it is accompanied with crispy bacon, Kampong fried egg, maple syrup and seasoned creamy butter.
Garden terrace dining surrounded by greenery and decorated in pretty blooms for sales.
Housed within Fort Canning Arts Centre, offers the typical brunch and dinner menu but elevated the plating of the dish with florals. Signature brunch items include Croissant Waffle ($23.90), Potato Rosti ($18.90) and Fig & Salted Caramel French Toast ($21.90).
A spin on the regular French Toast as they pair it with caramelised fig, smoked bacon, pomegranate and toasted almond. Sadly Croissant Waffles aka Croffles has a slight rancid taste and truffled scrambled eggs were overcooked.
From Sembawang to Serangoon, The Better Scoop is the newest ice cream cafe in the hood!
What set them apart will be the exclusive Nian Gao Waffle ($6.80) where you can taste a thin layer of the traditional rice cake amidst the crispy waffles.
Top it off with special ice cream flavours (from $4.20/scoop) such as Orh Nee, Black Sesame Soy Milk and Osmanthus Oolong.
Take a break and have a KITKAT with @gram_pancakes_singapore!
The outlet at VivoCity will be reopening this weekend (18 Sep) and there’s a limited-edition Gram x KITKAT menu to look forward to!
Like the Gram Premium Matcha Pancakes with KITKAT ($22.90), different from their current Azuki Matcha Pancakes. Made of jiggly matcha souffle pancakes, chocolate rasps and Kit Kat bars, it comes with a very rich Kit Kat Chocolate Soft Serve. Not chocolaty enough? They include a pot of Kit Kat sauce for you to drizzle to your heart desires!
Other specials to look forward to include the Chocolate Premium Pancakes with KITKAT ($20.90), Kit Kat Matcha Frappe ($8.90) and Kit Kat Chocolate Frappe ($8.90)
P.S: Opening special (18 - 26 Sep), grab a Kit Kat Soft Serve at only $1 (u.p.: $3) with any purchase of ala carte pancakes.
Spacious with indoor and outdoor seatings, instead of the previous white minimalist they transformed it to a warm cozy area with exposed brick walls, in-house plants and warm lights. It reminds me of a cafe in Melbourne, can you guess which?
Summer Fruits Waffles ($18) is both aesthetically pleasant and vegan friendly. Made with sourdough waffles, it is a joyful jumble of berries, caramelised fig, housemade granola and vanilla ice cream. Compared to buttermilk waffles, this is more chewy and dense but it doesn’t taste sour at all.
Midweek matcha treat! Check out FuelX, the newest cafe by Refuel group at Potong Pasir area. Their Matcha Pancake, which is fancier than your regular pancakes, is also available at this outlet.
Stack of matcha-infused pancakes served with banana, berries, matcha ice cream, a dusting of pistachio and drizzled in matcha sauce. Pancake is light but wishes there was a strong taste of matcha.
Perennial favourite @goodwoodparksg Durian Fiesta is backkkkkk!
Happening from 8 March to 1 August 2021, bask in the ambrosial decadence of handcrafted D24 and ‘Mao Shan Wang’ durian pastries. I was delighted to see the new creations has local touches, while stellar classic such as D24 Mousse Cake or D24 puff is too yummy to give it a miss.
Who knew Pandan and durian goes so well together? As evident in the fragrant new D24 Pandan Waffle Cake and D24 Kueh Dadar both generously filled with D24.
Rustic walls with drapes, I felt as if we were transported to an alley cafe in Penang. But there’s no need to travel since this is the second outlet of the halal-certified ice-cream cafe @threesacrowdcafe.
Settled for the Oreo Mint and Berry Cheesecake along with classic Maple Waffles ($13). Decent but unremarkable, waffles were slightly flat and the flavours taste like those from a $1 old school ice cream cart.
P.S: they are on Burpple Beyond now
Say Hay~ Cozy cafe for unique gelato flavours at Bedok. Limited seatings inside (3 tables), but they have more outdoor seatings at night.
I’m not a fan of their slightly dense waffles, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well-balanced fresh strawberries and balsamic vinegar can be. No wonder it’s their popular flavour! Matcha is quite intense, great for the first few bites but it leaves a bitter aftertaste
Located near Boon Keng MRT, the minimalist cafe focus mainly on coffee, but also offer freshly churned gelato with crispy golden waffles ($5.50) or espresso waffles ($6.50)
Other than the classics, they offer unique gelato flavours such as Lemoncurd with Speculoos Bits and Bailey’s. It worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Opening special! This dreamy creation is made of sweet and tangy Chitose strawberries, velvety cream cheese and homemade strawberry jelly sandwiched between delicate soufflé pancakes cloaked in a handcrafted strawberries-blended cream. Be sure to try it before 30 November 2020 .
In the hearts of Telok Ayer, this new creperie is a lovely addition to the area. Interior is on the point, with teal booth seatings, tropical vibes and cozy corners.
Made from gluten-free buckwheat flour, the french-style Galette is assembled with savoury ingredients and there are up to 11 options available. We went for No.04 ($17), a chiffonade of ham, organic egg sunny side up, sautéed mushrooms, and Comté cheese. The crusty galette is well executed and each bite was a forkful of comfort.
As for sweet crepes, check out the Raspberry Jam version ($11). Simple crepe adorned with fresh berries and @bopgelato strawberry basil ice cream, it is bursting with summery flavours!
