Durian!

Durian!

The King of Fruits which can be commonly found in Singapore. However, the "pungent" smell and taste of the food will have you hate you or love it!

Ms Durian has a new home! This durian-speciality cafe has shifted from Potong Pasir to Jalan Besar, and it’s bigger than before.

An array of durian desserts is available such as Durian Ice Cream, MSW Durian Craquelin and Durian Coconut Milk Pudding.

MSW Durian Cake ($12.50/slice), is a small slice of cake with layers of durian and vanilla sponge, enrobed in Chantilly cream. For huge durian fans, this piece of cake might not satisfy your craving, cos even though you can taste the durian flesh the taste doesn’t come out too strong.

P.S: they will be having a durian vendor in the outdoor area during the season. So you can enjoy fresh durian then too!

Perennial favourite @goodwoodparksg Durian Fiesta is backkkkkk!

Happening from 8 March to 1 August 2021, bask in the ambrosial decadence of handcrafted D24 and ‘Mao Shan Wang’ durian pastries. I was delighted to see the new creations has local touches, while stellar classic such as D24 Mousse Cake or D24 puff is too yummy to give it a miss.

Who knew Pandan and durian goes so well together? As evident in the fragrant new D24 Pandan Waffle Cake and D24 Kueh Dadar both generously filled with D24.

Season of the King of Fruits is here!! And a new store @ministry_of_durian has just opened providing Durian Lovers another place to drop by or call for delivery. With grand opening on 3 July 2016, they will launch dessert such as Mao Shan Wang (MSW) ice cream too. But till then we shall gorge on the durians.

It's my first time trying Red Prawn and I can see why some prefer this over MSW. Slightly pinkish flesh that's slightly creamy but has a bittersweet taste!

An eye-catching delight that's returning for a second year! Rainbow coloured sponge cake wrapped around D24 durian ice cream, it's so gorgeous that you'll pause before eating. However, I prefer it to have more durian pulp like the signature Durian Mousse Cake ($12).

One new creation this year is the Durian Kueh Lapis ($12). A twist to our local favourite as buttery but slightly salty kueh lapis cake framed the smooth durian mousse. Almond sponge cake is also added between the layers though I found it too dry for my liking.

From now till 31 March 2016, go grab the Durian Combo ($38.80/box) whereby you'll get to sample:
- their signature D24 Durian Mousse Cake
- Durian Kueh Lapis
- Durian Black Sea Salt Caramel Cake
- 2 pieces of Durian Puffs
- and 1 piece of Durian Crunchy Chocolate-Hazelnut Tartlet

Shaped like a prosperity gold bar, it's made of 100% Mao Shan Wang Durian and Nian Gao 😍 The harmonious marriage of decadent flavors, served cold, will be a great dessert for CNY dinner.

Taking a break from planning my trip's itinerary and indulge in Peony Jade's 100% PURE PREMIUM Mao Shan Wang Durian mooncake ($85 for a box of 4). Yummy durian filling wrapped in the chewy organic Pandan snowskin, just taste so awesome~

It's the season of durians and you can find many stores around the neighbourhood that are selling the King of Fruits. Luckily there is one near my area so that I can satisfy my durian cravings too!

This unnamed pop-up store is manned by a friendly honest uncle. He might not have a lot of durian selection but he is certainly one of the cheapest around with Mao Shan Wang 猫山王 sold at just $15/kg (seasonal). Seeing and tasting the ripe, succulent yellow flesh, it's really hard to just stop eating at one.

Grin Affair's waffle batter is unique as they consist of egg white, meringue, soy milk and a pinch of salt. Dense but crispy the waffles taste awesomely good when pair with their creamy Durian gelato, sprinkled with almond slices and topped with toffee sauce.

However, the waffle roll is hard to eat since it will break into pieces when you bite plus you can't really taste the durian in it. Probably one of my least favourite along with the durian macaron.

There are 7 durian pastries such as these Durian Puffs that you can eat to your heart desire. But do note that the price might be on a steeper end of $35.80 per person just for the dessert buffet.
