butterfly pea rice was mushy. bowl looks vibrant but overall flavours were quite eh. the salmon was tender tho and came with generous torched mentaiko which i appreciated!
Was intrigued by Lagoon in a Bowl at Amoy Street Food Centre because of its rice that has a pretty blue hue. Thought it was gimmicky but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food! You can either get salmon, steak or salmon + steak. Was expecting these to be dry but they were Uber tender! Also weβre slightly under seasoned so that when paired with the Mentaiko sauce, it would not be too salty. Really appreciate the generous about of vegetables provided too for a well balanced dish!
Amoy has a lot of more modern food from young hawkers and this is one of them. Tbh wasnβt expecting much but eh not bad sia. I got the salmon Wagyu combi and Wah, I was expecting either one or both of the proteins to be dry but no leh. The Wagyu beef was extremely tender and juicy. A little under marinated but this was necessary because the mentaiko sauce it was slathered in was already quite gao. The salmon also was very tender, felt like a sous vide texture. This also came with blue rice (for the lagoon feelz) and I liked it. Price point is very steep for hawker food ($16) but idm eating it again lah if Iβm feeling rich.

battling a long queue during peak hours, we were pretty excited when we first saw the highly-raved πππ£π©πππ π€ πππ‘π’π€π£ [$10] bowl!
what really impressed me was the thickness of the salmon fillet, and just how juicy it was! i'm not the biggest fan of cooked salmon (i prefer mine raw) but this one hit different π© it was lightly-cooked, such that it was slightly pink on the inside and really tender π AND THE MENTAIKO MAYO WAS SO CREAMY I LUV
of course, the most unique feature of the bowl was definitely the butterfly pea-cooked rice (it's not every day i get to eat blue rice), which supposedly has multiple health benefits. it boasts a vivid blue color, but doesn't taste thaaaat different from regular rice if you're wondering. it was okay, although it fell a little on the mushy side.
π overall: would i get it again? maybe, but probably just for the salmon! but i would say it was a pretty interesting experience heh. in the middle of amoy food street where it's nestled among many other food stalls, it's easy to miss it, but i think it's worth one try

Would be better if Salmon was less dry.

Looking for something affordable, nutritious, Instagrammable and delicious sounds a bit too much but fortunately it is not. Not only does this bowl look gorgeous, it is actually really delicious! The sous vide salmon with mentaiko mayo is packed with robusting flavor and the sesame dressing gives those 'boring' veggies an extra flavor and the sous vide egg to help balance out the dryness of the dish.
