No tasting allowed so I went with what the staff recommended - Osmanthus Jasmine & Lychee Raspberry Rose.

The osmanthus jasmine is a light and refreshing floral milk-based gelato infused with osmanthus and jasmine. The flavours were light and I feel the flavour of jasmine kind of overpowered the osmanthus. The lychee raspberry rose was a better choice with stronger flavours and citrus notes from the raspberries. While the pu-erh waffles seem interesting as tea-flavoured waffle, the texture of the waffle is crispy but dense (not airy) which makes it feels a little too heavy for an after-meal sweet treat.

Double Scoop (Classic + Premium) 》$8.60
Pu-Erh Waffle 》$5

We were having dinner in Kembangan and we chanced upon La Creamery, a quaint ice cream parlor located at the bottom of a HDB block in Chai Chee! It's a little hard to get to though, which explains why there wasn't an overwhelming crowd there.

The eye-catcher for us were the pu-erh waffles, which sounded really interesting! La Creamery also serves ice cream flavours that are light and based on flowery flavours. We added a scoop of osmanthus jasmine ice cream and another scoop of Earl grey lavender ice cream to our waffle, bringing the total price to $13, which is actually very affordable!

The pu-er waffles were really thick and dense - they are way thicker than your usual ice cream waffles and it can hence get pretty filling for one person! We highly encourage sharing with at least one other person if you are ordering the waffles. The waffles tasted like normal buttermilk waffles to be honest, and there wasn't much of a puer/tea-like taste in it. 😰 Hence, there wasn't anything unique in terms of taste.

The ice cream, however, were great! The Earl grey lavender flavour tasted more of lavender, although there were hints of bergamot in it as well. The osmanthus jasmine flavour had a pretty pronounced taste of Chinese tea, accompanied by a very light flowery taste. Both flavours were light and pretty refreshing, and we think La Creamery is the place to go to if you love ice creams that are not too heavy! Furthermore, their ice cream scoops are really large so the desserts here are pretty value-for-money too! 😁

However, we waited for close to 40 minutes for our dessert, as the shop had to serve around 5 other waffles before it was our turn. The shop takes rather long to make each individual waffle, so this is something you may want to bear in mind before ordering. If you are pressed for time, go for their ice cream scoops only!

It is surprised to see a few dessert shops under this HDB block, which is a very quiet neighbourhood. So there wasn’t much people when I came on weekends lunch time.

Gotten the taro coconut and enjoyed the ice cream after meal in this area.

We bought peach sorbet and cookies and cream, in a honey thyme cone. The sorbet was too sweet and melty. The cookies in the C&C is not crunchy already (漏风). But the cone is not bad! We couldn’t finish it and it costs $9.60... 🥴🥴

Being one of the two ice-cream parlours which have moved into the shops at the foot of Blk 55 Chai Chee Drive recently, La Creamery is an ice-cream parlour that prides itself over its artisan ice-creams that are made fresh in small batches in-house on a daily basis. Apart from carrying some noteworthy ice-cream flavours such as the Lemongrass & Ginger and White Chrysanthemum amongst others, the establishment also interestingly serves up Honey Thyme Cones and Pu-Erh Waffles, aside from the standard Classic Waffle that is also on the menu.

It was pretty clear for us on what item was to be ordered here — what are the chances that one will be able to find Pu-Erh Waffles being served up at an ice-cream parlour? The Pu-Erh Waffles were pretty well-executed here; the buttermilk waffles here were plush and fluffy — whilst wafting of a buttermilk fragrance, it also perfumes of a light tea aroma that lingers around the taste buds that did not attempt to overwhelm the ice-cream that we have picked. Our choice of ice-cream were the Lemonade Sorbet and the Jasmine Osthmanthus — the former was nothing short of zippy and refreshing, and would work great as a palate cleanser, while the latter was impressed us with its distinct floral body and tea-esque finish amidst the smooth and creamy milky base that would appeal to those who are into floral flavours and tea lovers alike. In fact, we pretty much loved everything that was on the plate that we actually wiped everything clean in less than 5 minutes.

Whilst looking like almost any other ice-cream parlour with a pastel pink colour scheme on the outside, La Creamery is something more than the usual — it’s infusion of botanical elements may be in-line with what is popular amongst ice-cream parlours to serve up to their patrons these days, but they have looked past the usual flavour combinations and also have offered a tea-infused waffle to set themselves apart from the crowded scene of ice-cream parlours. With ice-creams that are churned in-house, and waffles and cones which are also made from scratch, it is undeniable how La Creamery is a place where passion for the craft runs deep; and this sincerity shows in the food that they serve. A spot that one should check out especially if around the east side; wishing them all the best in what has to come!
