Clearly kampong chicken, like the one at Thomson. Yellow and bone-in. The soup is so great it can be sold on its own. The rice doesn't pale compared to other brands. See how I've avoided the bird? Although I can stand bone-in chicken, when you're short on meat, it becomes a problem.
It's rather rare to find a place that sells kampong chicken. The skin of the chicken is soft and silky, meat is tender and juicy (maybe due to the fact that it's kampong chicken). The rice, to my surprise, it's not too oily but at the same time rather fragrant. Definitely value for money and a healthier alternative if you're craving for some Hainanese chicken rice.
Not much of a case for its drumstick. Distinct yellow colour for the chicken sold here. In fact, the meat of a kampong chicken is tougher because the chicken is said to run free. Their rice is very fragrant. I love eating my chicken rice with dark sauce, chilli and ginger. Don't you?

I am not usually a big fan of chicken rice however, i quite enjoyed this one. This was my second visit, this time with visiting nephews from Jakarta. The kampong chicken were soft and juicy, especially we asked for the thighs and drumstick, when dipped on the ginger chilli and dark soy sauce, it resulted in good combination of flavours all together, I particularly liked adding the sprigs of coriander leafs into my bites which gave it a bit of herby kick. The set comes with half boiled egg and a small bowl of flavourful chicken broth. One nephew truly enjoyed everything as his palate is quite adventurous as mine while the other nephew who doesn't really like chicken rice thought that he enjoyed the rice the most. The chicken skin were a bit yellowish, i wonder if it is because it is the natural kampong chicken skin colour or they put some kind of colouring as well? These days you'll never know right? We also ordered sambal sweet potato leaves, one of my favourite veggies with crunchy texture. Always a nice place to bring visitor guests from overseas for a hainanese chicken rice!
The Queen and I wanted to try Big Mama's Korean Food/ Thai Food tonight at Kim Tian but they were both too crowded 😭 So we settled at this Kampong Chicken Rice place nearby. Meh chicken rice...
