Found this new gelato shop in this mall called the Gio Gelato, which you could easily spot it as you enter the mall from the custom.
Highlighting their gelato made from 95% fat free, all natural and less sugar. But I find the wildberry sorbet a bit blend with the taste, much like ice with flavour.
💭 The drink is actually decent! And for the price, it’s quite worth it actually 😂. It’s literally pouring fresh milk, adding brown sugar syrup and then the pearl. But it’s abit weird why they chose to put the pearl on top 🤔
This was probably one of the best food I had during my recent Johor Bahru (JB) trip. Or is it because I love desserts? Haha. 😆 Though I wish the coconut meat was softer, the rich avocado cream 🥑 blended with coconut milk was good. Not too sweet and there was some chunks of avocado. Yummy! 👍

Recently headed to JB for a day trip, but sadly it wasn't as good as expected. R&F Mall located within walking distance from the CIQ was totally quiet with only a few stores open, while Paradigm Mall only had 1 store that I was attracted to (@KaisonMalaysia has many pretty & affordable household products!).
.
Perhaps it was a case of expectations being too high or maybe because we didn't do enough research for hidden finds (I heard that there are several nice cafes!). Or... perhaps it's time to set our eyes on other travel spots? 😊.

This is a restaurant offering Cantonese fare at JB City Square (L3).
I love how affordable all the dimsum are at this place. The prices are all in the range of 5-10RM for each set of 2 to 3. The custard lava would be better if slightly more viscous, but it is still fairly good.
There are other options such as fried rice and noodles as well.
it’s either not fully cooked or served cold. not much soup and meat was cold and dry.. not the usual standard! but i still love dintaifung in overall. love love love their fried rice and yam bun. it is way cheaper to dine in malaysia! #malaysia
A cold bowl of Bobo Chacha with generous serving of ingredients!! Tasty, not too sweet and not too milky too! Reasonably priced at RM6/bowl! Perfect stop to have some cold dessert and rest your tired feet too! Conveniently located at JB City Square level 2, 许流山, next to KFC. @huilaushanhk #xuliushan #许流山 #jbcitysquare #jbcitysquaremall #jb
Lavender bakery is the equivalent of breaktalk in Singapore but their breads are definitely much superior.
This cranberry flaxseed artisan bread was crusty on the outside and moist and chewy on the inside . The bread comes in a paper bag with very specific instructions on how you should carefully toast your bread for the maximum enjoyment - I haven’t seen this degree of seriousness in any bakeries in Singapore so far - not even the artisan ones .
High quality French flour , plump cranberries and nutritious flaxseeds and with lots of love and care in proofing the bread.
In sgd dollars , this sizeable loaf was only about 3 dollars plus. It is less of the price ( although really really affordable ) that attracts me but more so the superior quality and taste .
Thankful for a Cousin Who bought this bread back for me . I should get a bus load of it back the next round 😝.
I love all things Soft and fluffy.
My first encounter with Castella cakes were from Ah mah traditional cakes because at the queue at the original cake store was too Long.
My trip to Jb last Sunday was rewarding because I managed to get the original cakes without having to queue ( has the craze died down ? )
In my opinion, both cakes are good ( I am vouching for the ones bought in jb , and not Singapore - the quality is quite different ).
The original cakes have a rather unique texture - almost like a pudding . It is jiggly, moist and spongy . Taste wise, it had a light eggy aroma and the sweetness level was just nice which makes it easy to eat .
Ah ma's cakes are also moist but has a texture closer to that of a chiffon cakes. It is also a tiny weeny sweeter that the original cakes. However, the eggy fragrance is more pronounced in ah Ma cakes.
Overall - I would say the original cakes have a higher " Shiok" factor because it has achieved that jiggly , wobbly texture that is just so unique.

You need strong arms to make this cake.
So much effort goes into producing these cakes and each procedure has to be done right. The meringue has to be wiped up properly to give the cake its height , the timing of removing the cakes from the oven is of essence and the turning over of the cake trays to extend the " stretch " of the cake .
It's no wonder that these cakes though just made with simple ingredients can taste so good . It is best eaten warm and the cake texture is unbelievably moist - like a cross between a pudding and a soft sponge cake .
I easily finished 3/4 of the cake at one seating.
It was that good .
And getting it at Rm15 dollars made every bite sweeter .
Chanced upon this little street that is near City Square which featured many street vendors selling the local delights. It's the absolute true experience of what Malaysian cuisine should be about and be warn that it is not glamorous at all. But bear with all of that and pull be rewarded with the best Sup Kambing, Nasi Campur, Maggie Goreng and Teh Tarik! This place is definitely going to be on my must-go list every time I head to JB.
These little packages packs a real good punch. Nasi Lemak. Chili is shiok too. At RM2.50 it's a steal.
They have many varieties and price cheaper. Love their Maki very nice. Will come again.
Look at the noodles. QQ, chewy chewy.. Superb! The broth is clear and no MSG after effect. Yummy!! Rating: 5/5! From Canton-i.
Canton-i Chinese restaurant. Springy, chewy noodles with shrimp and pork wanton that are big, fat and juicy! Love it! I will be back for more!! 太好吃了!
For those who loves cheese, this is something for you! A great combo and a must dip with soy sauce. 👍 niceeee.
Lots of veggies. But a little bit too oily for the crab. Overall okay! Would love to try it again. 😊
The best broth I've ever tasted for a Japanese restaurant. Plus it is cheap!!! This at Johor Bahru City Square.
The other 2 in the background was... okay. Favourite is still the one in the foreground.
Part of the Doremon 100 years expo in JB city square, there's a doremon cafe. Serving simple drinks and doremon favourite food - red bean pancake! Too cute not to try. But the taste is so so only. But i guess you'll feel happier seeing the cute doremon imprinted on your drinks.
The JB version which was way more generous with ingredients than SG ones & tastier. RM7 for this.
