This is the world’s first ever hawker stall to be awarded a Michelin star. Going at just $3 for a plate of Soya Sauce Chicken rice, it is no wonder that there were long queues and even a designated queueing area at its Chinatown Food Complex stall.

Propelled to fame as the 1st hawker stall to be conferred a Michelin star (and also the least expensive 1-Michelin star meal in the world at the time), Chef Chan Hon Meng might have lost the star, but not the long queues of hungry patrons.
.
Still going at it everyday, just as he's done before the star. The chicken is wonderfully bouncy and tender, with the chicken meat holding clean sweet savoury notes, while the chicken skin has robust salty savoury flavour.
.
The rice is fluffy and lightly fragrant with mild grainy sweet flavour, juicy cucumbers, soft braised peanuts, and wobbly egg to complete.

Although I didn't really trust this, I was glad Hawker Chan had something new. Like much of this Michelin-starred chain, it was reliably good but not mind-blowing. In fact it's more just braised duck than that long name. The salted duck at Benson is better!
My husband ordered their chicken rice, which I find quite ok only. Although it’s tender but nothing really special. They should choose better rain grains, as I felt the taste was too ordinary.
My duck noodle was better dish, as the duck meat quite tender. Good place for those want to seat on aircon place with affordable food at Chinatown.
They charge additional 0.5 sgd for chicken leg. So better choice is to go with a group so that can share a whole or half chicken. The way they cook the chicken successfully locks the juice inside. My friend said even the chicken breast is tender and juicy. I'll come back for Char Siew next time.
Must try if its your first time in SG! I find it a lil oily so maybe next time i will order it with less oil
