The Braised duck here is not bad. 1 of the better stores here at HR-CFC.
Meat is tender, braised sauce was shiok and the chilli was great.
When I came to Havelock Road hawker, I was not expecting to eat this, to be honest. I wanted to try Meng Kee Char Kway Teow, but they were closed.
As I was leaving, I walk pass many tables, and everyone seems to be eating carrot cake, which looks damn good. Proceeded to line up and ordered 1x black carrot cake @$3
Sprinkled with additional caipo & garlic, this ctk was rather good, the cai poh especially added sweetness to this dish.
Overall, really like this, next time will get 1 plate of white carrot cake to try.
A good charred charsiew and crispy shao rou is perfect comfort food for me and I'm always on the lookout for convenient and affordable recommendations.
I accidentally chanced upon this while staying nearby. This outlet at Havelock Road is part of a chain that largely flies under the radar but its quality is known to the people living nearby -- the queue stretches quite a bit during lunchtime!
The charsiew here is gloriously fatty and charred, while the shao rou somehow managed to remain thick and crispy even after being drenched in sauce. The most shocking thing was their rich and opaque soup, which trumps anything I've ever had from a cssr or wanton mee store before. Don't miss out on it!
Those balls. First time I've seen and eaten them at a wu xiang stall. I don't know how to describe them but they're delicious.
Pretty decent pack for $3. Comes with lup cheong and cockles. Added $0.50 for extra egg l.
Nasi Lemak ($3.70)

π΄First time trying this nasi lemak and we loved the ingredients and sambal chilli but the rice fared less well. Our chosen set 3 had chicken, egg, fish cake, and we added an otah (+80c). All the ingredients were really tasty and this would have been a winning nasi lemak if not for the odd texture of the rice. The coconut rice had an almost glutinous rice (?) sticky yet hard texture and could do with pandan fragrance (but thatβs my personal preference) although not sure if this texture had to do with it being taken away.
β οΈ P.S we usually go to this hawker centre to buy the yummy and well-executed homemade popiah skin from Hup Kiat (01-28) thats $20/kg.
