Had the sliced fished, hotplate tofu and stir fried beef with kai lan. Beef was flavourful and could taste the wok hey. Fish was qq and really fresh. The tofu was well balanced. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Overall it was an enjoyable supper zi char!
Tasty, hearty porridge and dishes that is available till late for supper! Visited on a weekday night and my favourites were the juicy braised pork and the cereal sotong paired with the plain porridge.
Late night comfort at Gu Zao Ren Taiwan Porridge with free-flow sweet potato porridge. Loved the cold cockles in dark sauce and the creamy pork liver claypot (eat it hot!). Added meicai, hotplate bean curd and qinglong veg for a simple but satisfying supper.
Had a really satisfying dinner here. Really a perfect spot if you’re craving comforting Taiwanese-style zi char dishes. Ordered quite a spread: hot plate bean curd, claypot brinjal with minced pork and salted fish, sze chuan chicken with dry chillies, sambal gui miao, pumpkin porridge and barley. The flavours were all very zhong kou wei, which I really enjoyed, super shiok with the porridge. Service was extremely fast and very attentive. Even while we were still browsing the menu, staff checked in to see if we wanted to order drinks first, which was a nice touch. Will definitely be back!
Dropped by for a late dinner on a rainy Monday night and it was the perfect vibe because the place was chill and not too crowded. The rain made that steaming hot free flow sweet potato porridge feel like the ultimate comfort food especially when paired with the savory zichar dishes. The hot plate venison was melt in your mouth tender and the fluffy oyster omelette was also a major highlight of the meal. We had the sambal sweet potato leaves too which were a solid side with just enough spice to keep things interesting. This is definitely a top tier spot for a hearty meal and I will be back for another visit soon.
Had a really good dinner at Gu Zao Ren Taiwan Porridge recently! It is air-conditioned and great for big families, since it has big tables with lazy susans, which make sharing super easy.
We ordered the hotplate tofu, oyster omelette, hotplate venison, and stir-fried sambal sweet potato leaves. Everything tasted great, and you cannot beat that $1 unlimited sweet potato porridge!!!
The staff were friendly and attentive too. Definitely gonna be my go-to spot for supper too since they are open till late!
