This is what comfort food looks like on a cold rainy day🌧️ The Baked Eggs ($21) features a rich tomato stew with runny egg, pancetta, chorizo, ham and baby spinach, topped with almond and feta and served with house-made sourdough. The stew is creamy, smooth and flavourful - a wonderful match with buttered sourdough. Impressed!
This dish came with a generous amount of pasta (the menu recommended this dish for 2-3pax) The rigatoni was cooked to perfection. IMO it’s the best pasta for holding all the flavours together due to its tube-shape. The duck confit was also crispy on the outside and the meat was soft and tender!
Not your typical ice cream waffle, this waffle was sourdough based, served with fresh fruits like strawberry and blueberries, crunchy granola, espresso caramel syrup, whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. The waffle was crispy outside and soft inside, and went well with all the toppings. The espresso caramel syrup surprised me pleasantly, as it was not too sweet due to the caramel or too strong of a coffee flavor. The balance was just right and went well with the waffles. The granola was especially crunchy and delicious.
Food took a while to come but looked so good and appetizing! Three pork ribs were served on top of pumpkin puree, and served with jalapeño. A small jug of glaze was given. The pork ribs were particularly soft and tender, roasted well, with only a small piece of bone for each rib. The pumpkin puree was very sweet and smooth and creamy. The sauce tasted like coffee and was unique, and went well with the pork ribs.
The Seafood Aglio Olio ($26) is by far my favourite dish from Five Oars. The al dente house made spaghetti is thoroughly infused with the umami from the tiger prawns, squid, clam and crab meat, and the garlic, chilli and cherry tomatoes complement the seafood. Though this is quite pricey, I enjoyed this thoroughly!
Was quite delicious! It usually comes with 2 poached eggs but they kindly let me swop it to scrambled eggs, which were not overcooked and q delish - not too heavy with cream/butter. The sourdough toast was nice too, slightly crunchy and not overtoasted, soft in the middle. It had a guac spread + avo cubes, plus lots of ricotta and some dukkah. I liked the vine cherry tomatoes - they were tart and juicy! Only thing is that the sourdough became a bit soggy towards the end sooo probably eat it more quickly than I did.
