The otah mousse was on point, another testament to how Monatana is also one of the few cafes in SG to offer something really different and innovative not just exemplified in one item but for many items across its whole menu. Goodbye Montana, you'll be missed

With the country in the patriotic mood, restaurants, cafes and even fast food are dishing out iconic and signature local infused items.

As soon as the spiced chai latte was served, i could smell the aroma of the spice a distance away from the cup. There was a good balance between the spices, milk and espresso shot. So my expectations were high for the nasi lemak waffle.

When it arrived at my table, i could have smelt a whole plate of nasi lemak if i was blindfolded. And the turn off came when i cut into the sides of the cutlet and see pink parts and i was sure there were even more in the thickest part of the chicken and i was not wrong.
Highlighted that to the two staffs whom were chatting behind the bar and they apologised and offered to change a new plate. 15 mins later, a new plate was served and i could see holes on the chicken as the chefs wanted to be sure that it was fully cooked and i really appreciate that effort. The waffle was soaked in pandan flavor with ikan bilis topped. However, the waffle soften and was soggy after the chicken has been resting on it.
Proceed to bill and staffs treat it as the uncooked chicken did not occur. Texted Montana on IG and even messaged them at their number on FB but no response for 3 days. Was quite disappointed with their non-chalant service attitude.

The Nasi Lemak Waffle ($15.50) was interesting. The chicken was delicious, unlike most Nasi Lemak's overly deep fried chicken - which I completely do not like. It comes with a side of Otah sauce which actually went quite well with the Mac & Cheese - I forgot to take a photo of it though, lol. The egg was nicely runny & the peanuts added a good crunch to the dish; overall, a nice one for the novelty of it.

Yes! The Nasi Lemak trend still continue with the latest addition by Montana, creating a whole new taste with their Nasi Lemak Waffle.

Montana has always be the place that people will visit for their creative and fancy waffle.

The chicken was really well marinated, tender and juicy. The waffle was surprised me with it fluffy yet crispy at the same time. You also find the usual ingredients of Nasi Lemak here with the homemade chilli paste, ikan billis and peanut.

Along with it comes the highlight yellow sauce which made from otah mousse and curry. Although I felt it would taste even better if they give more of it, overall taste still excellent for me.

If the NL burger was a breakthrough last year, then surely this waffle will be the new wave of Nasi Lemak inspired dish.
It’s waffle indeed taste of the familiar spices and it’s chicken and sunny side up all but makes you feel that ure eating a good plate of NL at a coffee shop. I thoroughly enjoy this plate and I’ll definitely be back for more.👍🏽

While the Nasi Lemak wave is close to dead, its still something worth considering. The combination of coconut rice mixed into the waffle was interesting but the addition of the chicken pretty much steals the show. Lightly spiced with turmeric, its wonderfully flavored with a side of otah mousse.

Laden with coconut pandan rice, the quirky Nasi Lemak Waffle ($15.50) comes in a close second especially if you are looking outside of the usual and sometimes boring renditions. Topped with a Turmeric Chicken Confit, sunny side up egg, cucumber slices, peanuts, ikan bilis and sambal chilli; it certainly captures the essential components of the local breakfast staple. Overall, a nice addition to their line of speciality waffles!
