I have been on the search for a good plate of orh luat ever since the original owner of Ah Chuan Oyster Omelette retired sometime last year.
Lim's Fried Oyster at Berseh FC has answered my prayers. The first thing you will notice about their orh luat is the size of their oysters. They use only oysters from Korea which are huge compared to what other stalls serve and yet fresh and juicy.
The omelette itself is also well executed with a good mix of charred crispy and gooey bits. It is a tad oily and can get abit gelat at times. My suggestion is to whack the coriander and chilli with it to remove the greasy aftertaste!
Last had this a few years back. Iโm still a bigger fan of crispy oyster omelettes, but if you enjoy a wetter and more eggy version, Limโs Fried Oyster checks that box! I personally find it a bit more greasy than I would like, but their tangy chilli helps to cut it back a bit. Itโs flavourful and you get plump oysters that are cooked just right.
Now this is one of better oyster omelettes I've had. The oyster omelette ($5/8/10) had a very good char with a good amount of crispy bits that were really satisfying ๐ the oysters given were so plump as well! Maybe the only downside is that it's slightly too salty HAHA
I donโt usually eat haojian/ orhluak because I donโt rly fancy oysters and Iโm not a supper-dish kind of person either, but this was surprisingly good! The egg was very crisp and was very nice together with the gooey starch bits! It is a bit oily though. Oysters are plumper than what most haojians have, the first piece I had was a bit too briny but I the second piece I tried was alright. I still donโt enjoy oysters but I would consider coming back again!
Hidden within Jalan Besar Food Centre is a local gem serving Oyster Omelette aka Orh Luak, with huge and juicy oysters from Korea.
I would say Limโs Fried Oyster serves one of the better Oyster Omelette Iโd tried in Singapore. Those plump and succulent oysters are already a win for me. The moist, starchy and crispy charred combination together with the tangy chilli sauce pack a flavor punch in addition to a good mouthfeel.
One of the best fried oyster in Singapore. Stall opens at 6pm. It is moist and starchy texture, with crispy charred bits. The flour texture is just nice. Huge oyster.
Price : $5/$8/$10

Oysters are extra large, plump, juicy & does not have the metallic aftertaste.

According to Mr Lim, these XL oysters are only supplied to hotels.
On that fateful day, those orders were cancelled.
Hence, the XL oysters, when we asked for additional oysters.

Mr LIMโs oyster omelette is towards the Teochew style, w more potato starch, a wetter version.

Love the chewy, starchy texture, the oily omelette, the plump oyster & the garlicky, citrusy chilli sauce.

The Cream of the crop! While I must agree the oysters are the highlight of the dish as every piece is fresh, huge and filled with the flavors of the sea, but as a egg lover, I do find the eggs alittle too moist and mushy for my liking! Although not my fav, Itโs still a good plate of orh luak and I will highly recommend it!
