Normal Chirashi Don

$24.90 · 119 Reviews

This is absolutely one of the best chirashi don that I have had in Singapore. The slices of fish served were thick and there was a very large variety too! You get salmon, swordfish, tuna, salmon roe, Aburi salmon belly and yellowtail for a bowl that costs only $26.90++! While it is definitely one of the pricier Japanese dishes around, this is really worth it for the freshness and variety of seafood that you get.

In terms of serving size, I think it is just enough to fill my tummy although smaller eaters may want to consider the smaller bowl for $23.90++. I think the dish can be quite filling because the rice used in the don is pretty clumpy!

The Sushi Bar is really popular and there was a queue outside the stall as we were finishing our meal at around 7.30 pm! Hence, you may want to make a reservation if you are thinking of coming down for a meal!

Pitan tofu @ $5.90

Came for the chirashi don (which is really good) but this pitan tofu stole the show! Love the addition of spring onion which gave the dish another dimension in taste and texture. There's also roe and crabstick meat which are great additions to the dish!

Will always come back here when looking for good quality and generous portion of sashimi.

P.S.: this is the smaller (and original) outlet but it's less crowded than the one at ngee ann city.

Ordered:
Aburi Salmon Roll
Original Chirashi Don

Food: 9/10
Thick, fresh sashimi cuts with generous servings. One of the best I've ever had!
Only pity was that the rice that was too sticky.

Ambience: 8/10
Comfortable atmosphere for casual dining and drinks

Massive chunks of fresh sashimi atop a bed of fluffy sushi rice. The Sushi Bar sets the absolute standard for what a solid bowl of Chirashi Don should be.

Salmon, tuna, hamachi(Japanese amberjack fish), scallop, mekajiki, ikura and salmon belly. Such an extensive selection of fresh fish presented on a “Normal” Chirashi Don. You simply cannot miss it out.

Pair it together with their popular Aburi Salmon Roll, a wonderfully-charred and almost “melt-in-your-mouth” creation, and you have an extremely satisfying meal.

Thick slabs of sashimi, comprising salmon, salmon belly, tuna, swordfish, yellow tail, and scallop, plus tamago and cucumber atop a bed of Japanese rice. To be honest, other than the salmon and scallop, the other sashimi were not as fresh as the ones at the Ngee Ann City branch, which was rather disappointing. Still, the portions and cuts are generous and this still ranks as one of the better chirashi dons.

The atmosphere is noisy and slightly hole in the wall – not the relaxed atmosphere you get at the Ngee Ann City branch, but the waitresses also didn’t seem in as much of a hurry to chase us out.

This place sells the freshest sashimi that I’ve tasted in a while. While it’s more expensive than my usual $10 chirashi bowls (I am a poor student after all), it’s definitely worth it with the quality and quantity of fish provided. I’d dare say that the sushi here is better than those sold at some pricier hotel establishments. ⠀

If I had to choose a favourite child, it’d probably be the 𝘼𝙗𝙪𝙧𝙞 𝙎𝙖𝙡𝙢𝙤𝙣. The smokiness of the charred fish paired really with the fattiness of the salmon. They do sell an Aburi Salmon roll ($16.90), but I’ve always felt that the dons are more satisfying to eat. Perhaps it’s some prejudice I have against sushi rolls 😅⠀

Other highlights included the crunchy swordtail and fatty yellowtail. Special shoutout to the scallop (not pictured because I ate it) which wasn’t fishy at all. It was actually really tender and sweet! As a former scallop hater, I was shocked.

Today’s MAJOR craving from before CB times. I dare say this is one of the best chirashi dons you can get in SG at this price point with its fresh cuts of tuna, swordfish, scallops, yellowtail, salmon and aburi salmon belly. My favourites have got to be the aburi salmon belly and yellowtail - super thick and fatty 😍 I know there are other chirashi dons out there cheaper but really, this one’s quality is worth it for $24.90.

The sushi bar does takeaways and deliveries during the CB period so do support them! It’s a pity I stay so far away from their outlets at Orchard/Tampines so... till after the CB then!!

The normal chirashi don comes with a variety of fresh and thick cut fish slices such as salmon, salmon belly, tuna, hamachi, mekajiki, scallop and ikura. All the goodness in a bowl. Not to mention the generous and hearty portion that makes it so value for money 》$24.90

Thick slices of fish. So good n it glistened under the light 😋 Oishii!

Located at a random corner of the dodgy shopping mall, the restaurant serves generous serving of delicious chirashi don ($26). The fish slices are so thick, at least twice the thickness of the typical sashimi. And they taste so fresh! The chirashi don had a great variety of fishes and scallops, and it leaves you feeling so satisfied. Kudos to the Chef!
