RICH — the only word to describe the combination of these two flavours which was recommended by the staff. I don’t usually go for chocolate flavours because I am afraid its too sweet. But the 80% dark chocolate scoop was nothing like that, and in fact, made all the better with the mild tinge of rose flavour that helped to balance out any overwhelming chocolatiness.
I was obsessed with pistachio ice cream for a while a few years back, but stopped because I decided to appreciate it properly for what it was. Some pistachio flavours are way too nutty its jarring, giving you a very heaty aftermath (if anyone else can resonate). In contrast, some are way too mild. But this was a perfect blend of rich (but not overwhelming) pistachio and creaminess that was easily enjoyed. Would recommend getting there pistachio here!

The kumquat vanilla has got to be one of my favourite flavours here. The kumquat vanilla scoop is creamy, yet pleasantly tangy and light with its citrus notes. I am a classic vanilla ice cream lover but I enjoy them being jazzed up when done right, and COTTA executes this so perfectly!
The Genmaicha with Azuki Red Bean was the mystery flavour of the day, and was recommended by the staff as a good complement to the kumquat vanilla. The Genmaicha had a nice roasted flavour that was more toasty than nutty. It had an apparent tea taste, but mild enough that it is light on your palate. Azuki red bean on top was a nice finish to the scoop!

Cotta is a relatively new artisanal gelato cafe at Tanjong Pagar and the gelato flavours are pretty interesting. We tried the following flavours:
▪️80% Dark Chocolate French Rose ($5)
▪️Muscat Grape Sake ($6)
▪️Sicilian Pistachio ($6)
▪️White Truffle Oolong ($6)
▪️Dark Chocolate Baijiu & Applewood Smoked Logan ($6)

While the gelatos are packed with flavours, the flavours are very delicate and balanced, such as the light rose scent that comes after the dark chocolate. The pairing of flavours is very interesting as well - the earthy tones of white truffle work surprisingly well with the aromatic oolong tea.

My favourite is the Muscat Grape Sake, which tastes like a delightful and refreshing cross between champagne and QOO. Second to that is Sicilian Pistachio, which is one nutty creamy goodness.

This small cafe is located on the 2nd storey of a shophouse and seats are limited - what an unexpected find!

tried the white truffle oolong and pistachio flavour. both were nice and worth trying, just because white truffle oolong was so interesting. it’s literally truffle oolong like u can feel the truffle shavings and taste the truffle. then it’s followed by the oolong aftertaste. cool combination! i’d give this a 4/5 for it’s unique flavour. pistachio was rlly nutty, which is nice, but then again if i closed my eyes, it tastes like any other nut flavoured ice cream. it could be peanut butter ice cream too so this would be a 3/5.

waffles - i’m not a fan of crispy waffles but i can’t complain bc that’s how they sell their waffles. it’s stated in the description that their waffles are “light, airy and crispy” so if that’s what you like then you can give this a go and rate it!

overall: 3.5/5. would want to try the hazelnut and dark choco next time round!
