We love that Chun Qiu's food is tangy and packs a nice little spicy punch.

We loved their fish with pickled vegetable (酸汤鱼片). The soup had a nice clean savoury flavour and reminded me of a nice hearty clear tomyum soup. Not too spicy even though there were loads of chilli floating on top.

The spicy fried clams (辣炒花蛤) was well executed and cooked just right. I wish they had a little more garlic in there though.

Word of advice: The food wasn't tongue-numbing spicy but still burned my tummy. For those with weak tummies, maybe ask them to go easy on the chilli oil and salt!

We won a $50 cash voucher for Chun Qiu Restaurant (春秋菜馆) courtesy of @xindots_sg.

We were not sure what to expect as the restaurant specialises in Shandong cuisine (or 鲁菜) which neither of us have ever tried.

To be honest, I thought we were having Szechuan cuisine when they served the twice cooked pork (回锅肉). The pork belly is first simmered, then sliced and finally stir-fried with green and red chillis, garlic and mushrooms. The twice cooked process keeps the pork belly tender yet caramelised nicely on the outside. We loved the sauce which went really with the meat and the rice.

We also had their griddle cooked tea tree mushrooms (干锅茶树菇). The intense woody and earthy flavours of the mushroom paired with sweet caramelised onions was surprisingly tasty.

Both dishes cost $12 each and as you can see, the portions were huge!

Decent. The string beans were slightly crisp and there were small bits of meat in it but it was mixed within the peppercorns!

The pork belly was very thinly-sliced. However, I find it a little too hard to chew on!

A chinese restaurant located in Chinatown serving authentic Shandong’s cuisine.

Dishes we tried:
Shredded Pork Stir-Fry with Sweet Bean Sauce
Twice-Cooked Pork
Scrambled Eggs with Tomatoes
Dry-Fried String Beans

My favourite has got to be the shredded pork! It’s has the right amount of flavor to it - sweet yet savory. The shredded pork goes really well with steamed rice or you could wrap it up with the beancurd skin. The rest of the dishes were decent, with some slightly lacking flavors.

The restaurant interior is nice and clean. I would say Chun Qiu restaurant serves up pretty decent and affordable dishes and I like it that the serving portions were huge.

Chun Qiu Restaurant serves Shandong cuisine, and I must say that they are doing a really good job. The Beef Poached in Chill Oil ($15) was HUGE and it came with so many pieces of tender fragrant beef slices. The twice cooked pork ($12) was really addictive. The shredded pork stir fry ($12) was really tender and fragrant and goes perfectly well with some rice. Ended up we couldn't finish and the amount left is definitely enough for another 3 people! Definitely will be back again!
