🍞 Chicky Satay
🇸🇬 National Day 2022 Special
📍BreadTalk (@breadtalksg)
📌 Multiple Outlets
💰 $2.20

Im surprised at how much this actually tastes like satay. Theres even peanut sauce to sell the whole satay schtick a little more.

The pastry is really crispy and the chicken is tender with that signature sweet and smokey satay taste. My gripe with it would be how little it is though, in relation to the price.

This is my first time trying a Portuguese egg tart so I didn’t know the tart base was supposed to be croissant-based instead of buttery cookie-ish-based (aka the normal tart base). The pastry base was buttery and flaky, something I think people would like if they like eating croissants. I don’t really like them so I found myself wishing they were the normal tart base instead. The egg custard was super good though. It was eggy and mildly milky and creamy. It wasn’t super sweet either which made it very enjoyable to eat.

Shaped like a tempura, and somewhat like a tempura, with crispy shrimps stuck atop the bread. They’re a tad salty, and definitely savoury. Hms, am wondering if it’ll be more TEMPting if the bread’s deep-fried, Japanese style (?)

Breadtalk’s the time-go place for flossies! Over the years they’ve innovated their flavours - salted eggy floss, spicy floss, hae bee hiam floss. You name it, they have it (well if they don’t, it’s only probably because it didn’t make it through the R&D stage!) This time, happy that they’ve their flossies in mini bite-sizes! Take away 4 for $5, you get to mix spicy vs non-spicy!

Side note: Besides the lava floss buns, I also love their momoji floss chiffons!

Similarly to the red quinoa bun, flax seeds were spread across the bun and added the crunch on to the texture. Best to have it toasted before eaten!

Hint of red quinoa fragance filled the bread and adds a crunch to the texture.
