Barashi Tei
266 Middle Road, Elias Building, 188991

If you've not been here before, Barashi Tei is located conveniently just a stone throw away from PoMo, and they open till late!

Some of the new items on their menu that we managed to try were the Foie Gras Sushi ($15.80 for 2), Wagyu Beef Don ($38.80), Kushi Mori ($18.80 for 8 Skewers), Ikura Chawanmushi ($6.80) and the Uni Chawanmushi ($9.80). Some of the old hot favourites includes the Spicy Salmon Maki ($14.80), Agedashi Tofu ($7.80) and Moriawase ($28). For those who prefer heavier tasting dishes, the Foie Gras Sushi will definitely be something to try! A generous slice of foie gras is being grilled then slathered in teriyaki glaze before being placed atop sushi rice.
Alternatively, if you're looking for just plain ol' sashimi, order the Moriawase, which consists of 12 pieces of fresh, thick and succulent pieces of assorted sashimi.

The sashimi was fresh, soft and chewy, and the bowl was a hearty portion. My main let-down was the poor service of the staff who had bad attitude, mostly ignored us and even asked us to pass her rubbish of previous customers. Hopefully, we just got unlucky with the service as beyond that, the restaurant had a comfy ambience that makes it a good place to hang out with friends
⚠️ Open till 4am, it's a unique, good option for supper. Their lunch sets are also very value-for-money at under $10

Also appreciate them for operating till late to cater to my late night Japanese food cravings.

Craving for Japanese food at midnight but don't wish to hurt your pocket? Look no further than Barashi Tei that serves traditional Japanese food till 2am. My picks are the Moriawase (12-piece mixed sashimi platter), Spicy Salmon Maki, Ikura Chawanmushi, and Gindara Nabe (Codfish Soup – not in picture). What also stood out for my dining companions were the Foie Gras Sushi (not featured) and Wagyu Beef Don! #Burpproved #BurppleSGLateNight

πŸ£πŸ’πŸ™ Must try dishes here are the Foie Gras Sushi, Wagyu Beef Don, Chirashi Don, and Spicy Salmon Maki (not in the picture ☹). Will definitely be back for more. 😎😎😎 Thank you @zanthrea for tagging me along. 😁

A whole huge and thick slab of foie gras over sushi rice is pure satisfaction β€” the foie gras is glazed with a sweet sauce on the outside, creamy and smooth on the inside which melts perfectly in your mouth.

For something heavier & insanely sinful, but oh-so-good, please let me indulge you in this mouthwatering & creamy foie gras sushi from Barashi-Tei.

As you can see, the thick generous slices are grilled; then slathered with teriyaki sauce and placed atop sushi rice. This is sushi party in your mouth, for sure.

.
The recommended way to eat this is to use the onsen egg as a dipping sauce. Personally, I prefer to eat them separately.. πŸ˜‹

A Japanese feast that left us feeling satisfied. *rubs belly* Recommended dishes include the Chirashi Don ($26.80), Spicy Salmon Maki ($14.80), Uni Chawanmushi ($9.80) and Ebi Mentaiyaki ($15.80). Beef-lovers, try the Wagyu Beef Don ($38.80). My friends love it!

PS: Keep some space for dessert! They have a few flavours of gelato to choose from. Love the yuzu, avocado and black sesame gelato!
