More Reviews of good food at Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle 阿宗麵線 (Ximending)

Every time I eat this, I'm impressed how much it's better than others. And it's a huge bowl.

Yes! Finally I get to try this. You could purchase in advance through Klook, just show your voucher and you are good to go.

I ordered the spicy one and I actually regretted. Haha it was so spicy that my tongue is burning. So be careful especially those who can’t eat spicy.

Ah Chung flour rice.
I can eat this for every breakfast or twice a day. love the intestine and the gluey soup gravy🍲🍜 They have 2 other stalls in Shilin night market and Zhongxiao E road

Somehow it tasted alot nicer this time because @eugenesjw added plenty of chilli, vinegar and garlic sauce. Trust me, with those generous sauces, this is really good. At least good enough to satisy my meesua craving. And also, i’m staying near here so for the convenience too. In fact, still my must-try here. Shiok ah!

台灣,好想念你啊!

This is my 2nd time back this year, any NEW NEW must go cafes I should check out, let me know... though my food itinerary seems packed already 🤣, though not as packed as @juicyfingers 😂🤣 DFD is also looking for a Taipei correspondent - based in Taipei, foodie, can write (English), can shoot, send your emails and writing sample / IG handle over to DanielFoodDiary@gmail.com (Don’t apply through message cos I get too many there.) 新加坡,明年見!#DFDTaipei

Served with salty cured pig intestines, this gloopy dish comes with extremely silky noodles, and a strong bonito flavored gravy hits you like a train. Adding the condiments (pureed garlic, chili sauce, and vinegar) gives it a whole new dimension of flavor.

For 65 NTD, it’s the perfect way to warm up on cool winters day.

Recommended for good reason, much much nicer than the ones available in Singapore. Thankfully there wasn't a queue. Taipei in July is so bloody hot though, this would be super comforting and warm in cold weather.

My must-have in Taipei. Love the complex flavours of this, slurpy hot goodness on a rainy afternoon

Joined the queue for the ever famous Ah Chung Mee Sua today!
Well in my honest opinion, it wasn't up to my expectation compared to the last time I was here. Nonetheless still the comfort food I'll have whenever I'm here

Today is one of those rare days when I wish the hours weren't passing so quickly because I have so much to get done, yet I'm stealing a pocket of time to reminisce about Taipei, which I visited for the first time in August last year and promptly fell in love with.

This was my very first meal there, and oh, what wouldn't I give to be slurping up a bowl of this glorious mee sua right now? 😩

10 years ago, I stayed at Xi Meng Ding (長紅 if u must know), and have had this every single day for breakfast.
Well, the queue just got longer and longer, the taste well, not as sensational, but 還是最愛, still love it a lot.
The rest, I shall let the video do the talking.

The weather there was cold, chilling and really windy! And what it calls for definitely is a bowl of Mee Sua. Ay Chung Mee Sua ($2.50) is so shioooook!! ▫️
Oh, the goodness of Mee Sua during a cold cold weather. So shiok! The silky smooth gravy and Mee Sua glides through your lips, into your mouth and then belly. Warms you up in an instance. What more to ask for during a cold weather!
▫️
Feels good to have a rest after so much rushing! Glad everyone rested well too! Have a good mid week everyone!

Needs no further introduction, 阿宗麵線 is iconic to Taiwan street food as Kotong Laksa is to Singapore's. This is really the original comfort food, large bowl of hand-sliced flour noodle in a starchy broth, with large intestine as the only ingredient unlike the typical ingredient of oyster 蛤仔. Add to your liking the balance of garlic sauce, chili sauce and dark vinegar; and your have your own individualized concoction. Not to forget to add the basil leaves 九層塔 which brings you nine levels up the pagoda (literally translating basil in mandarin) of flavours! 超贊的啦

First order of the day after we checked into Via Hotel, which is conveniently located one street behind this famous shop.

Gooey and peppery and littered with chewy little knobs of braised pig's intestines, it's a no-brainer why these silky, slender rice flour noodles command the demand they do. I added three spoonfuls each of their vinegar, garlic and chilli sauces, and found the combination particularly winsome.

So who doesnt go to taipei and eat this mee sua. Apparently it is the best. And yes indeed it is. Very good mee sua. Inside has pig intestines. Comes in two sizes small and big. Small costs around twd50, S$2+ and big is twd 60, s$3+. Must try when you go to ximending for shopping.

A small bowl with large pig's intestines (NT50) is enough to fill me up. It's a pity most people end up throwing the pig's intestines away.

Gotta add the chilli for it to be fantastic. Bought a small bowl (with 2spoonful of chilli and vinegar). Great!

50ntd for the small bowl, 65ntd for the big. Don't be daunted by the queue because the queue moves super fast. Like no waiting time for me after I paid + good stuff are worth waiting for anyway so go!

I think the standards may have dropped a little since my last visit.
