Allauddin Briyani has been around in Singapore since 1968. The briyani is also Michelin Plated.
Although this is supposedly the most famous briyani, its not the one with the longest briyani queue here at tekka. The queue at Allauddin was almost non-existent.
The chicken was quite good, soft and tender. Rice was fragrant. And the briyani set comes with papadum and egg as well.
My complain is that its Served in disposable utensils. Its hard to use the Plastic Fork to eat the chicken.
Since 1968 when it was established by the late Shaikallauddin Mohamed, this stall has been reowned for its consistently tasty biryani across all their outlets.
.
Now operated by the 2nd and 3rd generations, Haji Mohamed and Jahabarali Mohammad Farhad, preparations for their secret spice mix is done at their central kitchen, according to their family recipe originating from Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, India.
.
The rice and meat are cooked separately, then stacked on the plate. Infused with saffron, cardamom, turmeric, and other spices, the basmati rice is fluffy, with light yet distinct savoury spice sweet earthy flavours.
.
The mutton isn't gamey, with bold meaty savoury salty spice notes, but the texture is a little more firm with a light chew. The hard boiled egg is nicely springy soft with eggy sweet flavour.
.
The curry gravy is thin but holds good vegetal sweet spice flavour, thanks to the chunks of potatoes and carrots stewed within, all of which are nicely soft.
.
Some crunchy pickled cucumbers with refreshing vegetal sweet sour flavour, and crisp papadum, completes this dish.

I was at Tekka Market to re-stock some beef short ribs and decided to check out Allauddin's mutton briyani.
Compared to Makanan, Allauddin's nasi briyani itself is milder in taste but the spices are well balanced. It goes really well with the curry. The mutton though was noticeably tougher and "gamier".
If you prefer a milder taste profile, you will probably like Allauddin. As for me, I will say come here for their chicken briyani and head to Makanan for their mutton cousin --- the best of both worlds!
This was a different beast. The gravy was heavy, and so damn aromatic. There's a nice hint of sweetness as well
Biryani rice itself was fluffy, with a little bit of bite. Mild but really good, can eat on its own
Veggie curry was delicious too, light but there's this smokiness and soft bits of veggies.
Only area of improvement was the mutton, tender but could be a bit better.
The best biryani I had, so far as I can rmb, regardless of price. Unbeatable at this price point. Any joint serving biryani at 20++ should be ashamed if they can't touch this
I am not a big fan of Indian food in general but nasi briyani is one of those dishes I will sacrifice my waistline for.
Allauddin is said to serve one of the best nasi briyanis in town. For $6, you get a tender and juicy drumstick in a glistening heap of golden orange basmati rice flavoured with various spices such as cumin, cardamon, fennel seeds and cloves. I like that the spices are not overwhelmingly strong and there is a nice sweet aftertaste.
However, from the sea of similar stalls, the one that stood out the most has got to be the MICHELIN Guide’s Allauddin’s Briyani, so popular that it now has two stalls in the same food centre, selling an array of other dishes besides briyani. I am usually more a chicken biryani person, but between the mutton and chicken this time round, the mutton was the much better one with the fork tender meat and none of the gaminess, which makes it such a wonderful pairing with the curry gravy that is doused generously on top of it. At $6 for a single portion, you will get a mountain of briyani rice with a hardboiled egg, achar, poppadum and a bowl of dhal.
