This stall in NTI Food Court (near the NTU campus) may be known for its oyster omelette, but as our Tastemakers found out, it is the carrot cake that's truly worth the trek. Tastemaker Emily S loves how the carrot cake has just the right level of sweetness, is served piping hot and nailed the ratio of egg to bouncy radish cake cubes. Taste the best of both worlds with the Black & White Carrot Cake ($5), which allows you to toggle between the cleaner flavours of the white with the sweet-savoury lushness of the black (the latter is a favourite). We also like that this combination plate comes in a sizeable portion that's good for sharing between two modest appetites — perfect for cash-strapped university students looking for a hearty breakfast option.
Avg Price: $5 per person

I prefer my Carrot Cake/Chai Tow Kway 菜头粿 crispy, but this wasn't too shabby. Happy that this wasn't super oily. I usually prefer white, but the black one here was the clear winner for me. Just the right level of sweetness, served piping hot, & has a good ratio of egg to bouncy radish cake bits.
If you can't decide, just get both! It only sets you back $5. This in the picture is the smallest size (for mixed).. Quite a sizeable portion if you ask me. We had to dabao what we couldn't finish- that'll cost you 20¢.
I would like to come back to NTI Coffeeshop (yes, NTI not NTU ok) to try the food from some of the other stalls.. & 顺便 order this Chai Tow Kway again as a side dish.

Decisions, decisions. Fatty Weng 肥仔荣食摊 located at NTI Food Court though more known for their orh luak (Oyster Omelette) serves a competent plate of Carrot Cake (Chye Tow Kway) too. Hence, when you can’t decide, simply get both black and white versions at a minimum of $5. A good mix of sweet and savoury, crispy and soft; the consistent eggy fragrance as you switch between the two just ties the flavours together. No lukewarm Chye Tow Kway here as our plate was pipping hot and with that extra kick from the chilli. The fragrant heap of disarray was also pretty substantial as the portion size is slightly bigger than the usual single flavour. And though you do get a nice fried egg-layer crust from the white variation, I still prefer the sweetness which the dark soy sauce imparts to the dish.

For those who can't decide which to have, or simply just love both, you can get the best of both worlds at this store!
A small store tucked in the coffee shop near Pulau NTU is Fatty Weng Shi Tan; a store that sells orhlua (fried oysters) & carrot cake! The distinct flavors between the two makes it a fun switch between the two as you pick from black to white.
Tastisfying fried oyster at an affordable price.
The flour mixture had a good ratio of starchy stickness and crisp when cooked. Eggs and spring onion to enhance the dish. Comes with clean beautiful plumpy oyster. The amount of glossiness produce is 😮.
The sourish chilli was quite pairing too.
Do come have a try if you are here.
