Tried the giant big fishball which was $3.50 as seen in photo good for sharing between 3 to 4 paxs! Got the otah fishball to try as well, not spicy and the taste of the otah was very very subtle

The Tastemakers tasted a dozen dishes on their outing, but for many, the fishballs and fishcakes from this stall are one of their favourite finds. This is definitely not your run-of-the-mill, factory made fishballs. According to Tastemaker Casey Tan, the Teochew stall owners use fresh ikan parang (wolf herring) in their fish paste, resulting in a lovely "Q-ness" that Tastemaker Julius Lim loves. Prices range from 50 cents to $4 — do get the otah fishcake and tofu cheesecake! Everything is fried on the spot and served steaming hot with a piquant chili sauce on the side. The variety can be staggering, so it might be wise to take Tastemaker Julius' advice to have the stall-owners pick out a selection for you.
Avg Price: $5 per person

Fortunately, the stall was opened that day and I made a beeline for it, ordering a variety of fishballs and fishcakes that amounted to $7, which was absolutely well worth it.

As you walk towards the stall, it is like a shining beacon of fishball heaven that you will not regret ordering. With many varieties available, your best bet would be to just ask the stall-owners to pick a mixture for you. Made from fresh fish paste, you will experience the “Q”-ness from each bite and the flavours from each bite is just pure bliss.

After going through a dozen dishes (literally), there were many who thoroughly enjoyed the assorted fishballs from Tiong Bahru Fishballs (#02-20), myself included.

Costing from 50 cents to $4 and founded since 1962, the Teochew hawkers use fresh Ikan Parang (Wolf Herring) in their fish paste and you can immediately tell that it’s not just some run of the mill factory made fish balls. Everything was fried on the spot, served steaming hot and you don’t have any “re-used oil” fragrance. They served a piquant chili sauce as an accompaniment, however, I personally preferred having it on its own.

While obviously not the most balanced thing to have as a meal, it’s a great snack when feeling peckish. #burppletiongbahrumarket

Mee pok with their signature fishballs. This is the $3 portion. The soup is done just nice - not overly salty, not overly flavored, but definitely not bland. Additional fishball (so chewy!) at $1.5.
