Zhi Xiang special lor mee, tpy lor 4, blk 93 market

It is getting increasingly difficult to find a good, if not, decent bowl of lor mee. In recent years, two stalls in Bukit Purmei and Amoy Street which I used to frequent, have closed down for good.

I was therefore delighted when the mother bought home a bowl of Zhi Xiang's lor mee recently. The star of their lor mee is undoubtedly the deep fried shredded yam fritters which reminds me of the Mamee noodle snack. It is just as addictive and crunchy with a slight hint of sweetness. Their gravy has a nice consistency and the ngoh hiang is decent.

Lor Mee is one of those dishes that seems to be vanishing from our hawker centres and dining tables. I am not too sure why but it may just be a case of changing taste palettes. If you do like your lor mee, do support them before they go the way of dinosaurs!

What special about their Lor Mee would probably be those fried yams on top of it, adding more taste to it with all the crispy bites. $3/$4

To make things interesting, the owner replaced the usual fried fish with fried Yam! The crispy yam straps provide the another layer of texture and sweetness to the gravy. For those who love the gravy slightly sweeter, this is the one for you!!

It comes with fried yam strips instead of fried fish that made the noodles more fragrant and tasty.
