Chilli crab was cover with a thick later of corn starch looking thing. Were they intending to deep dry the crab…? Dont recall it being like this previously.
Portion was generous, and delicious. Fried rice includes egg, cabbage, ikan billis.
The fish keropok gave the dish a good crunch. Would come back to eat this again!
This place is a big no no for me. The food is not tasty and it is exaggerately high. Packing is styrofoam at 50cent each. I wont recommend
Really disappointing since this is actually their chef’s recommendation on the menu. The chicken was tough and dry. The sambal chili and sour soup didn’t quite suit my palate. The “salad” at the side didn’t go well with anything on the plate and had no dressing. The only saving grace I could think of was the crispy bits that were sprinkled over the chicken leg 😂.
we can't stop at 1! This is right up your alley if you prefer your mango sticky rice not overly sweet.
Despite that, the interior was still fresh, juicy with a characteristic seafood-sque flavour.
2️⃣Sichuan Mala Crispy Prawns[$22(R), $35(L)] Once again, the exterior shells of these fresh, plump and juicy prawns served as a barrier for the Mala spices, only retaining the characteristic spice and fragrance on its exterior. If you aren’t concern about been glam here when peeling the prawns, simply just lick up the remnants of spice on your fingers🤭. Just don’t tell others that I taught you that!🤫
3️⃣ Sichuan Mala Fragrant Fish [$38(R),$48(L)] Bathing in a Sichuan peppercorn infused soya sauce, the aromatic Mala flavour was more distinct here albeit not mouth-numbing, a good complement to the soft, delicate flesh of the fish.
4️⃣ Sichuan Mala Diced Chicken [$15(R), $22(L)] - My favourite of all the Mala creations here as these crispy, deep fried bite sized chunks of sized popcorn-alike chicken comes with the most prominent Mala fragrance & spice, perhaps also due to a greater compatibility between chicken and mala. This comes with a slightly fiery, mouth numbing sensation to the palate which is great for fans of spicy food! 🌶 Pretty addictive that I couldn’t stop laying my hands off them! 😋.
Overall I felt that the spice intensity in these Mala dishes here isn’t overwhelming and generally acceptable. As a fan of spicy food, I do secretly wish for it to be bolder, more intense with a greater kick! 🔥

Thanks @yassinkampung for whipping up a feast of spice (that makes all things nice 😋👍🏻) for us the other day and @ahgongahmajiak for extending the invite! 🙆🏻♀️ .

Why didn’t anyone thought of adding Durian to chicken?
Savor the light & creamy sauce that gives the chicken as touch of sweetness. Haters of Durian will be glad to know there is no pungent smell! Durian lovers should love this.

One of the highlights that night was actually the Asia’s very first Kampung Durian Chicken! Yes, the love it or hate it durian fruit has found its way into a savoury dish at Yassin Kampung. Tender fried chicken drenched with creamy durian sauce similar in texture to buttermilk or condense milk chicken. The durian smell was mild, sweet and might feel confusing at first bite since the chicken was savoury. Before long, it became a dish which I start to appreciate rice.

Yassin Kampung, a MUIS Halal certified family restaurant has introduced a new range of MALA dishes 🌶
Expect mala chicken, fish, prawn and yes, MALA CRAB. Say what?! 🦀
I like tt the mala flavour is strong but does not over power the meat. It blends in nicely & tasted super shiok 👍 📍Yassin Kampung is located at

A truly tongue numbing experience to say the least, Chef Yassin’s interpretation of the Sichuan cuisine has brought a table full of mala creations at Yassin Kampung. The brand new range sees items such as the massive Sichuan Mala Fried Crab ($40/R & $65/L) concocted using their secret blend of premium ingredients and of course a good load of Sichuan peppercorn to kick off the party.
With the mala craze hitting Singapore's shores hard, the search for quality and value-for-money alternatives has surged. Hence, pretty addictive and shiok, the crab was indeed fresh and meaty. One for the seafood lovers, it was a nice change from local classics though don’t miss out on Yassin’s signature BBQ Sambal Stingray, Chilli Crab, and Curry Fish Head. Different from the mala xiang guo we are familiar with, the combination of fragrant spices and sweetness of the crustacean was still the bomb.
And spicing up the Halal Tze Char scene, Yassin Kampung will also be opening a fourth outlet sometime in January in the East of Singapore - located at 215 Bedok North Street 1 (just 5 minutes walk from Bedok MRT station).
Many thanks to @yassinkampung for having us & @protegieconsultancy for the invite as well as hosting us!
Mala stingray? Durian chicken? 🤤🤤🤤 I’m already missing the food here!
Located at Kampung Admiralty @yassinkampung 😉 Halal Zhi Char place!
First time tried out this new opening Malay zichar. The food and restaurant ambient are good! Menu quite extensive as well..We ordered setmeal A that comes with onion omelette, bbq stingray, stir fried kailan and tomyam soup. The portion is just nice for 3 pax. A bit sad that bbq stingray need to be replace due to out of stock. The tomyam soup is tasty and less oily.
Only drawback is the food serve waiting time is quite long.
.
Eh tak eh? We actually ordered more (swipe left to see more 😝) dishes that the table was filled up even before our 3rd member arrived at the table 😂
.
Yassin Kampung needs no introduction with their wide variety of yummylicious halal zi char style of food. This time round, I was most interested to try their sichuan mala diced chicken (bottom left in first photo). My oh my. Just looking at the dried chilli already made me salivate (and perspire a little).
.
It's really shioks for you spicy food lovers. What I really like is that the chicken cubes are bite-sized and absorbed the mala spices so well. Even though they're fried up, they're not oily at all. Chomp down with the peppercorn for the explosion of flavours in the mouth. Totally worth the calories 😘
. 👍👍

In fact, great even in silo as it was well marinated and grilled to perfection! 👍🏻
。Soup Ekor [$8] An oxtail-based soup that’s said to contain collagen, great for the complexion. A pity I wasn’t able to consume the oxtail due to religious reason, but I did enjoy the seemingly clear yet flavourful, comforting broth .
。Kampung Durian chicken [$20]
A signature dish here that comes with an acquired flavour. Being an anti-durian consumer, I was unfortunately not bold enough to give it a shot (do not blame me, the smell was just too pungent for me to handle, I was literally holding my breath as I was capturing a shot of this dish 🤭😷)! From what I’ve observed, the others on the table seems to enjoy it greatly, even @ahgongahmajiak who isn’t a fan of durian complimented this dish and mentioned that the durian sauce surprisingly complemented the chicken! 😨 .
。BBQ Sambal Stingray [$15]
Another of my favourite item here, apart from the Sichuan Mala diced chicken, whereby the Sambal sauce comes with an aromatic tinge of spice, coupled with a pleasant umami flavour of dried shrimps (aka haebi) incorporated into this thick, flavourful Sambal sauce! The stingray was also fresh with a soft and delicate mouthfeel to the palate .

🍪 would have been better if the ice can be easily broken apart. That would make the experience so much better.
Chicken?! 🤯
Yes, you heard tt right. Tender chicken coated with creamy durian sauce, served with real durian flesh 🐓
The durian sauce is flavourful but not overwhelming & adds a nice sweetness to the savoury chicken. Love it ❤

Sauce was creamy and yummy. Yassin Kampung is one of the first few halal certified restaurant to serve this. A taste of sweet and savoury.
Yes, you read correctly. Your eyes are not playing tricks on you. As bizarre as it may seem, this unique combination of two ingredients actually works! Credit goes to Executive Chef and Founder Chef Yassin Ng, who had put in great effort and time in its conceptualisation. In this dish, the distinct flavours of the king of fruits are maximised without being too overpowering. There is a pleasant balance of sweetness and savouriness and its taste makes one crave for more. Do give this one of a kind dish a try when you dine at Yassin Kampung. Your taste buds will thank you!
