I got the spiciest option. This was insanely spicy and I had a hard time finishing this. Almost died from eating this! Nonetheless, I satisfied my spicy cravings.

I had to remind myself to add some vegetables, because every thing was the same price, regardless whether its meat or tofu or vegetables.

Very wide range of items, including smoked duck, spinach noodles and cheese hot dogs.

Prefer the soup one as the dry version isnt cooked together with the mala. You basically pour the sauce over it.

Being the 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝’𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧, @yangguofu.sg has over 6000 outlets and has recently opened it’s third branch in Singapore at Esplanade Xchange!

@yangguofu.sg is well-loved by many for its extensive range of premium ingredients with three unique and flavorful broths - 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚 𝐁𝐞𝐞𝐟 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐡, 𝐓𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐡 and 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐧. After choosing the ingredients, pay for the ingredients by weight at $𝟐.𝟖𝟖 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟎𝟎𝐠, choose your preferred soup base and level of spice. You can also enjoy free-flow of any soup with just an order!

With a total of three bases to choose from, Spicy Mala Beef Broth, Tomato Broth (non-spicy) and Mala Mix (contains peanuts), we got the traditional mala beef broth this time round for a better comparison with the other brands. In terms of variety, Yang Guo Fu offers a wide range of ingredients to choose from as compared to other smaller brands, with handmade items available as well, but lost out to Zhang Liang, which has more fridges of ingredients. Both big brands have a sauce station to customize your own dips, but Zhang Liang has more condiments options, if this is a deciding factor for you. In terms of the all-important broth, Yang Guo Fu has a spicier and numbing taste profile as compared to Zhang Liang’s mala broth. There are not many that sets both apart as they are priced similarly at $2.88/100g and my choice will be which has a shorter queue.
