This indeed one of the better lor mee I had for some times. Gravy was thick and flavourful.
Maybe it's the longer opening hours as compared to where it originally was at Old Airport road, where queue was always snaking. Now at this outlet, there's no more queue anymore.
It’s a sad day when my ex-favourite lor mee store quality has dropped significantly. First warning sign should have been the absence of lines compared to the long queue at the nearby competitor. Not sure when commercialization happened but they have expanded to 6 branches across Singapore. Gone are the original friendly store owners who always served with a smile and patience (despite the crazy queues), and instead replaced by stern uniformed staff.
The soup was thin and diluted, and lacking in the needed starchiness to adequately coat the flat yellow noodles. Also found it to lack seasoning and depth despite adding in vinegar, sambal, and chili.
The generous variety of ingredients was a saving grace; we enjoyed the tender pork belly, fried fish, and braised egg. That said, given that one eats lor mee for the rich savory broth, this was a let down that we are unlikely to get again.

This is my THIRD time eating Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee in just 5 months! First two times were at old airport road outlet. This time round i went to their balestier outlet!
The prices seems to be the same as the old airport original outlet, even though the balestier outlet has more items like drinks and has air con too!
Got the $7 small bowl for double fish, which came with the cod fish nuggets and fried fish meat. Not a hugeee fan of the fried fish meat but i was afraid the $6 cod fish nugget lor mee wont keep me full 🤣. In the end, this $7 double fish portion kept me full even past dinner time! And for some reason, the cod fish nugget reminds me of macs fillet o fish taste 😂
Really love the added dimension taste that cilantro adds to the starchy soup! Yellow flat noodle for lor mee all the way!
I’m sure most of you are familiar with the famous Michelin-approved @xmxlormee hawker stall at Old Airport Road Food Centre.😬
Here’s what we enjoyed at their Balestier outlet…🤤
👉Signature Lor Mee (L) - SGD9
👉4 Treasure Crispy Lor Mee - SGD11
👉Fried Cod Fish (Thai Tom Yum) - SGD7
👉Fried Cod Fish (Mentaiko) - SGD7
👉5-spice Traditional Prawn Roll - SGD5
👉Hakka Style Pork Belly - SGD5
👉Fried Homemade Wontons - SGD5
If you’re looking for something NEW, do give their 4 Treasure Crispy Lor Mee a try at their Balestier outlet! Else, just go for their Signature Lor Mee which will never disappoint. Each bowl comes with your choice of noodles, topped with a generous portion of fish, pork, eggs and bean sprouts, and served with a touch of garlic, chilli, vinegar and coriander. SHIOK LAH!😋
The sides we ordered were surprisingly delicious too, especially their fried cod fish and five-spice prawn roll.😊

Not many people like lor mee bcoz it’s just too gooey but Xin Mei Xiang’s lor mee isn’t so gooey. And pretty tasty too. Side dishes are good too!
I don’t like lor mee but this is not the usual starchy kind so I enjoyed it! Fragrant and flavourful!
