Ordered one of the Chef’s Signatures as it looks like a good deal with 1 protein (chicken) and 2 sides (mushroom and cherry tomato). I requested for less oil and it is a good decision as the dish still turned out oily with the butter base 😂 The umami flavour is very enjoyable for the first mouthfuls but the taste gets flat after a while. Suggest to add more chilli flakes when you collect the order to give it another depth of flavour.

Miso Butter with prawns and 2 sous vide eggs.
Flavour was def on the stronger side

Had to resort to lunch a short walk away and got the opportunity try out the new outpost of Twyst which had recently just opened its doors within the Food Garden food court located at Asia Square Tower 1. Twyst isn’t a new name in the F&B industry — they do run a standalone eatery within Raffles Place MRT Station, serving hungry office workers a variety of Build Your Own Pasta choices, as well as freshly-pressed sourdough paninis, and a limited menu of sides and appetisers. Whilst specialty coffee from Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee is available at their location at Raffles Place MRT Station via a separate counter run by Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee, their stall at Food Garden at Asia Square serves only homemade ice tea and homemade yuzu lemonade alongside a variety of canned or bottled drink options. Patrons who prefer to go for pre-determined combinations of toppings and type of pasta can opt for the pasta listed in the Chef’s Signature section of the menu — a fuss-free way to enjoy the pasta here where the options had been selected for the convenience of the patron.

Opting for the Butternut Kombu from the Chef’s Signature section of the menu, it comprises of elements such as penne pasta (spaghetti is available for those who build their own pasta), beef pepperoni, kale and edamame. Whilst coming in a eco-friendly takeaway bowl even despite opting for dine-in, the pasta here can be said as pretty well-portioned — there was sufficient condiments to go around the pasta and we were adequately filled. The Butternut Kombu sauce was absolutely delicious — the pasta wasn’t tossed in too much sauce and was al-dente; just enough to go around everything for a bit of flavour, and carried a very light hint of sweetness from butternut amidst the very slight cheesiness that was pretty pleasant for a touch of savouriness. The pre-determined toppings fit with everything else wonderfully; the beef pepperoni providing a savouriness typical of cured meat and a meaty bite — antes up the flavour profile of the dish further, while the kale gave a crisp texture against the edamame which gives a good bite.

With most of their Chef’s Signature items being priced between $9.90 and $10.90, the food at Twyst seems to be priced competitively to its counterparts located within the same food court — still fairly reasonable considering this is pretty much one of the most priciest district in The Central Business District we are talking about. A convenient (and maybe fairly quick even) option where office folks get the flexible to pick what goes with their pasta, Twyst is likely to become one of the more popular options for office folks to dine at here — especially considering how most folks are back to the office these days.
