I’m always deterred from trying this popular stall due to the constant snaking queue.

It comes as a total surprise to see there is no customers waiting in line. I quickly placed my order despite finishing a full meal just 10 minutes earlier.

Ordered their dry u mian {no chilli 🌢} with minced meat, sliced mushrooms, ikan bilis, vegetables and abalone slices.

The u mian vaguely reminds me of the Heng Hwa-style lor mee / handmade noodles that my mom used to cook a few decades back.

It has a nice springy texture mixed with less salty and slightly sweet-savoury dark soy sauce. Taste-wise, I feel that the concentrated dark sauce somewhat overpowers the flavours of all the ingredients.

While, the bowl of soup on the side has a robust and flavourful base β€” such a joy! 🫢🏻

Repeat customer - always will order the fish maw ban mian dry + minced meat. The fish maw will be cooked in the soup therefore super shiok to drink this collagen filled soup after slurping the noodles. Portion just nice for 1 pax. The seasoning (+chili; homemade) compliments well with the noodles and ingredients (marinated minced meat, braised mushroom slices, veg, ikan bilis and friend shallots).

Their homemade chili is also sold at their stall.

No matter how long the queue and how busy, the lady boss who takes orders appears unflustered. Love that she will issue you a queue number and will beep the queue number once your order is ready.

Highly recommended! Prepare to wait during peak dining hours. Do note they do have split shift usually about ?2pm/3pm where they can finally take a break and have their lunch.

first off, can i say i love how nostalgic the plate looks? 😍 back to the food - this is nothing less than a hearty meal. savour the springy, al dente noodles coated with the sweet, savoury & spicy (oh, the spice really has a good kick) dark sauce mixture all in a single mouth. the noodles alone hits the spot. making it even better, have it with their handmade well marinated pork balls (no gamey taste, it’s a yes for me!), the braised mushrooms or simply the crunchy ikan bilis (not fishy! πŸ‘πŸ»). adding on to the goodness, the dry version comes with a small bowl of soup that’s great for ending the meal off with some comforting warmth.

interesting fact: you can add on other fancier/atas toppings like big prawns, fish maw, clams, salmon or even abalone!

Finally ticked this off my list! We ordered the dry ban mian with handmade meatballs. Doused in sweet and savoury sauce, the springy chewy noodles are topped with fragrant shallots and ikan bilis.

This popular noodle stall is located within an underrated rooftop hawker centre. They offer surprising variations such as clam, abalone, salmon and fish maw.

Be prepared to queue if you're heading down. We waited about 20min on a Sat afternoon (around 1.15pm) slightly after the lunch crowd in hopes of a shorter waiting time.

We stuck to the same meatball as main ingredient for our u mian. The noodles has got a spicy kick to it, but if that's not enough, you can also choose to get an additional chilli for 30c.

Do expect to queue at this popular noodle spot! ✨

When the queue starts before the store is opened, u know the food is good.

By the time the lights of the shopfront turn on at 11.10am, there was already a queue of 6 person waiting for auntie to open the shop.

I had the mince meat ban mian with additional meatball and egg.

The chilli is very explosive so please don't be a hero and ask for "jia la"

The minced eat was quite flavourful, but the Meatball was quite meh.

Overall the sauce, chilli, minced meat, just wok me over.

This surely is 1 of the top ban mian I had for quite some time.
