More Reviews of good food at Tong Xin Ru Yi Traditional Hotpot

Decided to forgo the usual HDL/BITP and go with a classier Hotpot place recommended by friends. Ambience was brighty-lit, quiet, and very 'polished'. Service was also friendly and attentive. Went with the Pickled Chinese Cabbage with Pork Rib Soup ($38) - huge portion with lots of pickled cabbage and more than 10 pieces of pork ribs. The sour soup is an acquired taste though. Added on the Beef Platter ($28), Chinese Cabbage ($6), and the waitress said the Japanese Black Pork ($18) was 50% off for the day so of course we had to get that too. Saw reviews saying the Spicy Stewed Rabbit ($18) was good so we tried it as well, but it was nothing to write home about; tasted like tougher pieces of chicken. Overall, definitely fresh and quality ingredients but perhaps we should have gone with a different soup base because I found the meal to be pretty normal. Get the Tong Xin Special Drink ($3) though, it was sweet and tart and refreshing and perfect to wash everything down. Sauce bar was $4 per pax and I found it to be slightly lacking compared to HDL/BITP was they do provide some sort of fried kway tiao which was good. Total damage was ~$131 for 3 pax which was reasonable and we were bursting at the end.

Sooo delicious. This is so rich in every ingredient you'll wish for in a maocai, we chose beef - tender slices and pairs well with the generous amount of veggie. Definitely get their homemade tea to match with the spicy maocai. (Good for 2-3 pax, ~$40)

Don’t forget to grab some vegetables for your hotpot as well, and the platter has the corn, cabbage and more.

Another platter with all the soybean items such as stir-fried beancurd rolls, beancurd skin, golden and fresh tofu.

Although it is consider a snack that you can’t eat with the hotpot soup, but I strongly recommend you to get this.

Super juicy and soft and you need to shake it with the salt provided. Do put the salt based on your choice and don’t put whole cup of salt into it.

If you like to have some beef in the hotpot, I totally recommend you this one. You just need to place them in the hotpot for 8 seconds, which give you a medium rare beef. Of course if you prefer a much cooked version, you may place it longer.

If you finding hard to choose what mushrooms you want, you can go for the platter with the combination. Which include some of the essential mushroom types.

One fried ingredient worth getting to put in your hotpot. Do put it in just for awhile to retain some of it crispiness. Of course, if you put longer, it’s soft texture also give another kind of taste.

For the fan of Doraemon as you can find lots of owner’s collections around the restaurant.

They have lots of interesting soup base options on the menu. But if you look for the basic one, the homemade spicy soup is good to go with.

And if you look for some soup base with ingredients, you can get what I gotten which is the pickled Chinese cabbage with pork rib soup. You could find a few pieces of pork ribs inside the soup.

Extremely pissed off by this lady waitress with glasses. She came over to our table unwillingly after I waived my hand. I asked her ‘’there is this dessert on your menu, 糖糍粑,what’s this?” She replied with a terrible attitude and tone “this is dessert lahhhh!?” Hello!!?? of course I know this is dessert..but I wanted to know what this is..is this cake? Glutinous rice? What sauce? Is it fried or? But the reply I got from her was “this is dessert lahhhh”. She knew I was pissed and just walked away like nothing happened! I was awfully offended by her with no apology from her at all!!! Worst service I’ve ever encountered!!!!

My 1st time at Tong Xin Ru Yi Traditional Hot Pot for lunch yesterday after reading good reviews online. Environment is homely and gives a Taiwanese vibe. The sliced pork that we ordered are fresh and good quality and the same can be said for the vegetables as well. We had both the Mala and Golden chicken soup bases and both were wonderfully tasty, I prefer the Chicken soup over the Mala as I liked the wholesomeness of the chicken broth. Service is friendly and efficient but thier dipping sauce could be better. Definitely worth a return visit.

A should-be rainy weather staple, hearty hotpot dinners are the perfect comfort food. And so, my first visit to Tong Xin Ru Yi Traditional Hotpot was a blast - partly because of the weather but mainly due to the food. With an extensive menu, they are known for their lovely repertoire of slow-cooked soup bases. Hence, sticking to the classics, we got their signature Golden Chicken Soup ($20) and Tomato Soup ($16).

Not thirst-inducing at all, the thick, bright yellow broth was lip-smackingly good. The nourishing blend pairing the savouriness of the chicken and the tantalizing sweetness of the golden pumpkin together harmoniously. Very tasty and really a must-try. What’s more, there was a quarter of a chicken in the pot - great value! Another vibrant number, the tomato soup also held a lot of flavour and featured a well-rounded tanginess. The thinly sliced pickled radish and sweet corn found in the base delivering that extra oomph.

As for their meats, we got their meaty Angus Beef ($22) and thin Spanish Pork ($18). Both were more than decent cuts. Oh and keep a lookout for running promotions as while we were there, a minimum order of $80 and above gets to receive a free portion of either Japanese black pork OR U.S. premium beef.

Fish with salted vegetables. Shiok ah. Comes with dory fish, white and smooth. Not stingy with the ingredients, and lots of greens as week. A pot cost only $38, good for at least 3. We couldn't even finish and need to dapau, which is free. Loved the service and attention to quality and ambience here. Great job! Finally found a hot pot to my liking!

Another recommended hot pot choice. Their Mala Hotpot base is pretty good and well blended with spices. It’s the kind that is 又麻又辣&又香. Ingredients were pretty fresh and decently priced for the quality & variety!

Tried their golden chicken broth and Szechuan veg spicy fish soup (choice of dory or catfish) Both broths are very tasty. They gave a lot of dory! The meats are fresh. We had the frog legs, kidney and their special 8seconds beef which were all fantastic.
