* This place has closed :( Please try somewhere else. * Blending local and British cafe culture, and giving modern twists to great classic comfort foods from around the world, The Study is the new go-to social bistro with an unpretentious environment, and serving familiar yet new, clever food options. With warm and textured materials such as copper, wood and rusted mesh, the craftsmanship of The Study is aimed to be homogenous in the same way that the meals are crafted by the chefs; with much detail, texture and warmth. The Study features a main bar with an open kitchen that has been carefully shaped with layers of copper that have been clad onto its surface and riveted together, boasting an industrial-chic vibe. Riding on the concept of a cosy space, the welded and bent bar and double stools are custom-designed to create a social go-to for people to mingle and hang out. Approximately sized at 400 square feet, The Study is designed by MAKEMEI, their first restaurant/bar project in Singapore and boasts a design notion of a cosy open-concept kitchen with a day-and-night dining option.

Life is about being happy
It's not what others say
If not everyday you look grumpy
And who will care how's your day
.
Life is not everything on paper
Not dictated by an A or cert or pass
It is who you are that matters
Even a grass can have class

You better be quick
See their legs wriggling out
Gonna catch 'em all before they shout
For help. No doubt
I shall devour

4.5 munchies: The dish of the night at SAVOUR 2016 goes to The Study's Iberico Pork Scotch Egg. Encased in a warm and moist shell made from vinegar-marinated minced Iberico pork, the egg was done on point with its yolk slightly oozing. While the foamy truffle air enhanced the dish with its softness and a touch of earthiness, the pickled beetroot gave it a punch of freshness.

The second instalment of SAVOUR 2016 is held from 9-11 Sep, located next to Marina Bay Sands Exhibition Centre. #savour2016 #LYDVoteDarren

The charred and juicy roasted chicken thigh ($24) was simply a beauty to behold (and taste) 😍 - along with generous amount of gooey caramelised onions, creamy but textured pea mash and fingerling potatoes πŸ˜‹πŸ½ Of course, we had to get their staple fish and chips ($25) too πŸ˜† crisp, light and moist fish, only gripe was that I wished the portion was larger! Both were part of a 3 course lunch set - $30.

Omg one of the best kinds of dessert in my books.. Pies and tarts are among my favourite categories of food. This is a rare find in Singapore; not many places do a traditional English bakewell tart - this rendition by British-influenced The Study consists of a delicious brittle, and well, short, shortcrust pastry (reminiscent of a pΓ’te sablΓ©e), frangipane filling studded with raspberries, a healthy shmear of raspberry goo and vanilla ice cream nestled on orange crumble.
