Tai Er has undoubtedly mastered the art of Suancai & Fish (酸菜鱼). Their signature dish is a standout—rich, tangy, and addictive. The broth is the perfect balance of sourness and spice, infused with the flavors of pickled mustard greens and aromatic spices. The generous portion of fish is tender, flaky, and melts in your mouth, making every bite a joy.
The Spinach Salad is a surprising delight! Presented as neat little rolls, the fresh spinach is topped with tobiko and drizzled with a nutty sesame sauce that elevates the dish. It’s light yet full of texture, a unique starter that pairs well with the heartier mains.
Another must-try is the Yummy Steamed Chicken with Chili. The chicken is incredibly tender, soaking up the spicy, flavorful chili sauce perfectly. It’s comfort food with a fiery kick, ideal for those who enjoy a bold and aromatic dish.
Waited approx 40min on a Friday evening. Ordered the Crispy Pork w/ Chilli Powder ($13) and the Sliced Beef & Ox Tongue in Chilli ($12) to start off. Both were good but I especially enjoyed the mala flavours of the beef. Shared the Chinese Saukeraut Fish (2 pax portion for $49) and added glass noodles and bamboo shoots for an additional $3 each. Fish was tender and almost gelatinous, and the suancai was really good. Signed up for the membership to get the free birthday treat of a Beef Noodle w/ Suancai (u.p. $10). Nice! To end off, had the Glutinous Rice Rolls w/ Brown Sugar Syrup ($11) - good for those who like the chewy texture. Total damage was ~$110 for 4 pax and we had a filling meal. Don't forget the free flow roselle tea!
idk why the presentation is like that...looks like leftovers😭😭😭 anyway this was actually pretty good!! batter stayed crispy throughout the meal and prawns were plump, though more could have been given. note that the mustard is more like wasabi
best suan cai yu i've ever had!! not overwhelmingly sour and spicy. there was a lot of ingredients given too! we added glass noodles to go with the soup too
vv yumz i rly enjoyed this meal! the sauerkraut soup was v hearty and there was a good amount of v tender sliced fish as well as other ingredients such as glass noodles and mushroom.
they have free flow tea which you can make on your own with dried orange peel and roselle. i loved the tea as it was super fragrant with a natural sweetness
we also got their glutinous rice rolls for dessert which i feel was not as good as other ones that i’ve tried. theirs was on the harder side and not as chewy :/
overall v satisfying meal, would definitely consider coming back! the only thing is that this place is q pricey
