A popular bakery cafe a few minutes walk from Yishun MRT Station, hidden within the Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre.

It is consider an open and outdoor space with seats overlooking the pond outside, a perfect place to chill and chat.

Open early morning till lunch hours only. You can either dine-in to enjoy some of their breakfast set or takeaway their breads.

They offered a few types of bread here including the sourdough, naturally-leavened soft loaves and buns; which you can find all in display shelf.

I gotten their Chocolate Hazelnut, Adzuki Bun & Seeded Bun; which all very soft and fluffy, generous with the fillings inside.

Totally worth getting some of them when you are in Yishun area.

This morning, we had breakfast at Slow Bakes. Glad they opened up the adjacent space beside for more sit-down room. Usually crowded on a weekend, I am glad to enjoy my breakfast at a more leisurely pace today.
This is a set with 4 toasts, 2 eggs and 2 drinks, added one more sourdough baguette toast.
Delightful. The surrounding greens definitely brought much to calmness to sooth my mind.

Choose your type of bread and type of spread! For breads, they have a variety, ranging from the classic brioche or sourdough, to flavours such as matcha or pumpkin - which can be quite subtle especially when paired with spread. The toast is thick and pretty substantial, so honestly one was quite filling already.

For spreads, you can go for the traditional kaya (with or without butter), or try their nut butters or jam. They even have avocado and chia seed which was what I tried, and I was glad that they weren’t stingy with the avocado. There’s a lot of options for both breads and spreads so it was nice to be able to mix and match them all.

Overall everything tasted very healthy and freshly baked. It was a nice wholesome vibe enjoying our breakfast with a view of the Yishun pond. We were there at about 7.30am and it was already so busy! They actually served the bread first after some waiting, and it was only about 15min+ later that they served the eggs and drinks.. which was quite disjointed unfortunately because I couldn’t enjoy the whole breakfast set together. The toast was cold and not crispy by the time everything else was served. That’s my only complaint.

Otherwise, this cafe is not a bad breakfast spot given its ambience. If you have some time on your hands, are not too fussy and don’t mind a slow breakfast at the Yishun area, you can consider giving this place a shot!

Was there on a Sunday morning and loved the relaxed, airy vibes there. Being non- air conditioned, the previous midnight rain must have brought respite to the cafe and it was breezy and cooling. We ordered the breads, topped with half-boiled eggs (not in picture). The matcha mochi red bean bun was good, chewiness in each bite; the rest of the breads were great, especially after heated up.
We ordered more toast after this, to try out, especially since we saw many people eating the avocado toast. The toast was crispy and the avocado was wholesome. I do feel that the taste could have been enhanced with a squeeze of lemon or a dash of pepper. Perhaps minimalistic in food preparation is how they sell this?

Good for a chillax morning.

Here’s hoping to a slow start this long weekend - I had mine last week @slow.bakes 🍞

Simple menu of soft boiled eggs (the eggs were damn good and fresh, I swear!) and many choice of bread to go with spread. I had the foolproof homemade Kaya and butter with brioche bread.

Can’t help but also gotten a few of the fresh bakes - cheese mushroom, Tom Yum Cheese and Hazelnut Chocolate buns. All selections were vegetarian 🌱 and allium free :)

Paired up with a cup of iced kopi and people/scenery watch from there!
