Was good! Cabbage was soft but mildly crunchy, tofu was decent and the fried fish was rather crunchy and flavourful. Queue is long but moves rather quickly! Rather satisfied with this for lunch.
This is from the one furthest away from the escalator, not in the same unit as tofu lane.
Spinach and cabbage were decent, but they put those smol shrimp as topping which is not what I prefer. Also the cabbage was very oily. Sweet and sour pork is alright, some pieces were crunchy so those were great, but some didn't have much batter so it was just cubed pork. They put cucumber with their gulurou, which was a nice combi! Rice wasn't clumpy.
Actually thought the gulurou was okay only because not all pieces were consistently great, but after having the other caifan gulurous around the area (amoy, interim, tjpg) I realise this was the best LOL so yeah I would come back!
Really affordable lunch option in Shenton House but sadly they gonna cease operation today. Thanks for serving us CBD folks cheap and good food over the years. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀

The two most common food in CBD is salad and fish soup, and we've no lack of good fish soup at this area - Piao Ji (Amoy), Han Kee (Amoy), Yi Jia (Maxwell), Jin Hua (Maxwell), Hup Lee (Arcade, Raffles Place).
🔸
After being a regular at all the other fish soup stalls above for the past 9 years, I was introduced to this stall by @heyyyfeli, and I've been coming here quite often. This one at Shenton House is sweeter and usually saltier (salt level varies), it reminds me of the fish steamboat 鱼头炉 by Nan Hwa Chong, which uses yam and bian yu for the flavour. Fish were fresh and firm, and portions were generous.

If your schedule allows, come before 12pm on weekdays, or anytime on weekends before 2:30pm (they close around then).

I'm beginning to miss Singapore food A LOT, and one of the things that has been on my mind is chicken rice.
🔸
This is a good chicken rice so near to my office, yet I didn't know of its existence until @zen_ang recommended it to me. It's hidden from street view, as it's located on the second floor of Shenton House.
🔸
I always request for thigh meat, and this came with one that's meaty and smooth. The rice is oily and fragrant, and I love it best when mixed with the green ginger paste.

Some fiery prawn noodles to chase away the rain and a tall cup of iced Kopi C kosong.
