Mixed carrot cake Decent portion for $4.50. The white carrot cake isn't those crispy type, but it's flavourful enough. As expected the black carrot cake would be more fragrant with wok hei, but I generally prefer the white one for the natural taste. Rating 6.5/10 as there are not many carrot cake stalls nearby, I will return to patronise.

Awful Meal Mutton Soup (S$6) Addon Rice (S$0.50) which was topped with vegetables and dried shrimp paste Only 2 slices of meat. Mostly sliced leeks and bean curd, plus 2 wedges of tomato (weird). Penang Char Kway Teow ($5.50) Aromatic "wok-hei" permeated the oodles of noodles completely. And because it was relatively grease-free, I hardly felt the twinge of guilt that usually accompanies the act of me falling face first into a plate of "char kway teow". The only thing I would change about this is the beansprouts. They could do with some fattening up.

Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun Soup ($4.50) I have walked past here several times at night and it's always full of customers feasting on their steaming hot pots of "Malacca Satay Lok Lok". I haven't tried it for myself so I can't comment but I did have their "Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun Soup" and it was really satisfying. They're generous with the smooth rice noodles - almost too generous in fact. And although the plentiful shredded chicken breast meat was a bit on the stringy side, all was forgiven when I sipped the soup. It was clear but full of flavour, and it had crispy bits of fried pork lard in it! Ok, anything with fried pork lard gets me beaming, so I was immediately nodding my head happily as I sucked up every drop of soup from the bowl. They also have this wonderful spicy chicken rice chilli sauce which went very well with the "hor fun" and shredded chicken. Another plus point is they are open till 2am every single night so I know where to go if I feel like having a healthy supper :)

Malacca Satay Lok Lok Located at Tanjong Katong. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall the food is just normal... Buffet price about $26.80 per adult..

Tasty herbal soup Great herbal soup and side dishes! Special mention goes to the black chicken soup, for the really nice layered herbal flavour and the Cai Po Omelette, not too salty with amazing fluffiness.

Might be my fav herbal soup restaurant Might just be my favourite herbal soup restaurant ever. Had the collagen fish maw soup and black chicken soup which were both so tasty and had high quality ingredients. Zichar side dishes like the caipo omelette and tofu were delicious too

comforting and nourishing soup comforting and nourishing soup! tried their ginseng black chicken soup and cordyceps flower kampong chicken soup — they were very generous with the ingredients and the soup was very rich and delicious, you will not feel thirsty after your meal. we also had their handmade fresh prawn roll and signature jade tofu — both were well paired with sauces that elevates the taste profile of the dish. lastly, we had their homemade ginseng chrysanthemum, the ginseng was light and not overpowering, perfect for the hot weather! overall, a very pleasant experience here!

Awesome Hainanese Western Cuisine Tried Seng House for dinner—Pandan Latte was smooth and fragrant, perfect after a long day. Hainanese Pork Chop was crispy and satisfying, with that classic tangy sauce. We also had some amazing truffle fries that were crisp and well seasoned. Great spot for a comforting local dinner!

Superb Hainanese Cuisine The oxtail is a hearty, flavourful dish. The meat is coated in a rich savoury sauce, with a balance of sweetness from the carrot, celery and possibly tomatoes and red wine. As for the pork chop, the Hokkaido pork’s fat elevates the dish making it indulgently tender while the sauce adds a nostalgic comforting flavour - a perfect gourmet meal.

Hainanese pork chop and oxtail stew On a Monday evening, ambiance of the cafe is relaxing and cozy. Decided to have two of its Hainanese signatures. Hainanese pork chop is so good…crispy outside yet juicy and tender. It goes well with the onion tomato sauce which is tangy and sweet. Its fries perfectly fried, lightly salted and not oily. Oxtail stew, rich and flavourful. Its mashed potatoes, creamy in texture, absorbed full flavour of the oxtail. A satisfying dinner made completed with an aromatic cup of flat white.

Hearty Meal 😋 Out of everything I ordered, the fried pork and sambal lala were definite standouts. The pork was tender, flavourful, and not greasy at all. The sambal lala had a unique twist compared to the usual, but the sauce was so addictive—it kept me going back for more! The other dishes were delicious too, and everything paired perfectly with their chicken rice chilli, which added an extra kick. I went on a Tues and was surprised to see the place packed. I’ll definitely be back to try their chicken rice next time!

Best Porridge We had a satisfying meal at Gu Zao Ren Taiwan Food Porridge. We ordered the black pepper beef, and the sauce was thick, rich, and flavourful — great with the porridge. The omelette with cai po was tasty, with just the right balance of saltiness. The stir-fried cabbage was fresh and nicely done, not too oily. Service was friendly and efficient, making the dining experience pleasant. A solid spot for comforting Taiwanese porridge dishes.

Cozy meal at Guzaoren Had a wonderful and cozy dinner here Guzaoren Taiwan Porridge! We got the Three cup chicken, hot plate toufu, chaipou omelette, cabbage and the porridge. All the dishes tasted homely and flavorful, and complimented the porridge really well! Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a warm cozy dinner that’s worth the price!

Chicken Rice Sushi ($4.90) A classic Singaporean dish but with an unique Japanese twist . Slices of soya sauce chicken on top of neatly molded blocks of chicken rice and garlic bits, drizzled with teriyaki sauce and garnish of fried ginger, shallots, and spring onions . Their soya sauce chicken was really succulent. Overall the dish was good but there’s room for improvement as the blocks of chicken rice were a bit inconsistent in the texture. And also the rice to chicken ratio wasn’t really balanced . Nonetheless I believe the dish has the potential to be even better .

Yin Yang Chicken Rice Set (8.90) Wonderfully plated, with the chicken being delightfully soft & moist. Silky at its best. The soup, is wonderfully flavoured, I wasn’t expecting the sweet, winter melon soup. But definitely heavily laden with MSG. I have never felt so thirsty before, make that extremely thirsty! I drown myself with at least 2 bottles of water. It was THAT BAD. I felt like I was in a desert, dying of thirst. Would I go back again? NEVER.

Crispy Chicken Rice Balls ($4.90) @roostcafe Crispy Chicken Rice Balls ($4.90) usually sells out before dinner. Deep-fried bread crumbs encase a mashed rice and chicken stuffing that's flavoured with chicken stock. Its crunchy and light batter is a delightful contrast to its soft insides that aren't too dry. Dip these morsels into their house-made chilli sauce to highlight it with a spicy and sour tinge.

claypot chicken rice ($13) used to love the claypot rice here but standard dropped after covid :( it's not bad now but it's not good either

KL Pork Noodle ($9) touristy and overpriced but this was actually not bad 👀 a lot of pork & soup was flavourful

Seafood Pao Fan Metres away from the new Gourmet Park, here still serves better hawker food. This wine-laced soup was delicious, the fish and prawns were plump, and there's also scallops.

Mee Siam Came by for the Grab DineOut 15% deal and got the Mee Siam (u.p. $8.80) Portion was alright, gravy was tangy, peanutty, and chunky with a hint of spice, served with a hard-boiled egg, 2 prawns, and a begedil. Tasted pretty good but felt the price was a little steep.
